The Power of Ginger

As we have heard for decades... Ginger is loaded with nutrients and bio-active compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain that were discovered and supported by medical and scientific research. But old ancient cultures have understood, used and revered this root for millennia. It is actually revered in many cultures and as among the healthiest, important (and most unique) spices known today.

Ginger is thought to have originated in China of which the root has powerful medicinal properties. It is part of a plant group in the "Zingiberaceae" family and is closely related to Turmeric, Cardomon and Galangal. The active ingredient in this root is "Gingerol" which is used to help digestion, reduce nausea and help fight the flu and common cold, just to name a few, it also has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

More Amazing Benefits

It does not matter how you use Ginger, it can be used fresh, dried, powdered, or as an oil or juice.

Ginger appears to be highly effective against nausea with a long history of use as a sea sickness remedy, and there is some evidence that it may be as effective as prescription medication. It is also used or prescribed to relieve nausea and vomiting after surgery, and with cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. But the most common use is in pregnancy-related nausea, such as morning sickness. Although ginger is considered safe, talk to your doctor before taking large amounts if you are pregnant.

Muscle Pain

Ginger also has been used and shown to reduce muscle pain and soreness from exercise-induced issues as well. It does not have an immediate impact, but can be effective over time and in day-to-day progression of muscle pain, these effects are believed to be due to the anti-inflammatory properties Ginger has.

Well working out for long stressful training sessions, not to mention work on attacking Muscle Spindle Cells and Golgi Tendon Bodies... there is pain, dysfunction and inflammation possible. Whereas rubbing and physical manipulation and First Aid methods are great for the exterior and to minimize swelling, pain and discoloration... it is great to work from the inside as well. As a regular part of the diet in cooking, ginger can greatly help your training sessions.

It is also used in reducing pain from Osteoarthritis (degeneration of the joints in the body, leading to symptoms like joint pain and stiffness), reduction of blood sugars (with it's anti-diabetic properties) and improve Heart Disease risks.

Diabetic Control

This area of research is relatively new, but ginger may have powerful anti-diabetic properties and has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and improve various heart disease risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Indigestion and more...

But the benefits do not stop there, it also aids in dyspepsia (chronic indigestion), a recurrent pain and discomfort in the upper part of the stomach. Ginger appears to speed up emptying of the stomach, which can be beneficial for people with indigestion and related stomach discomfort.

Other benefits are reduced menstrual pain, significant reductions in most cholesterol markers, cancer (Ginger extract has been studied as an alternative treatment for several forms of cancer), improved brain function and protection against Alzheimer’s Disease (inhibiting inflammatory responses that occur in the brain), improve reaction time and working memory. Ginger extract can also inhibit the growth of many different types of bacteria and oral bacteria linked to inflammatory diseases in the gums, such as gingivitis and periodontitis and may also be effective against the RSV virus, a common cause of respiratory infections.

WOW all that and good tasting, how unique!
