trying a detox week

in #health7 years ago

I am an omnivore: that means eating meat, fish, dairy and vegetables all in equal measure and I do not think I could be a

  • vegetarian (no meat or fish)
  • vegan (no animal products)
  • paleo (only meat, no carbs)

But a few weeks ago my girlfriend came up with this idea of joining in a fasting/detox course run by an Austrian doctor called Ruediger Dahlke.  Part of it is lead through an online course where the doctor (yes he is an official doctor) will give advice, answer questions and basically guide the participants in what is possible and what not

Since I am not really a fan of even the concept of an enema I refused to take part in the second fasting week which those are apart of.  But in the end I did relent to joining in the first part which is the detox week from Saturday to Thursday.  (I think I got roped into it, she is sneaky that way)

So here I am doing a detox week.

What does that entail?

well basically you live the whole week on just vegetables

  1. start off the morning by not having breakfast but drinking tea (any kind) or even better hot water with lemon and ginger
  2. then drink a green smoothie till about lunchtime
  3. at which time you can have a salad (no eggs, no meat, no sauce, no salt, only a bit of oil)
  4. during the afternoon a piece of fruit (going for an apple today) or some carrot sticks etc...
  5. and then at around six I can have some soup

and thats it...

Why the short period to eat? Its apparently something called intermittent fasting which means that you only eat during an 8 hour period during the day and then nothing for the other 16 and that should stimulate the body to burn fat faster.

I am really glad that its just a week.  We started on Saturday and made it through the weekend kind of easy because it was just us two.

At work it is different, people eating all over the place, the snack box situated not 2 meters from me. (the willpower needed is really a whole lot higher)

And the worst thing of all is just that I am not the initiator of this whole thing.  But since I made the commitment I guess I will have to hang on in there.

I do not think anyone ever died from eating a week of veggies and do not think I will be the first but it really is not the easiest thing I have ever done in my life. (even though I have already lost 1 kg which is roughly 2 pounds and I am not really overweight to begin with)

Have any of you out there ever done anything similar and what was the end result

why? just make a decent comment and you might get upvoted more, do not just demand follows and upvotes

people do not like it and usually ignore it

I would advise you to stop this kind of behaviour before someone starts downvoting you instead

this is just friendly advice. Try to enrich steemit instead of defiling it with comments like this
