Polysorbate 80 increases the permeability of the Blood Brain Barrier. This is NOT a good thing for babies!

Polysorbate 80 causes Premature Ovarian Failure (POF)
The Amphastar brand of Vitamin K contains 10 mg of Polysorbate 80. This is 200X the amount of Polysorbate 80 that is in the Gardasil (HPV) Vaccine that contains 50 mcg.
In January 2016, The American College of Pediatricians issued a statement about Polysorbate 80 in the HPV vaccine and the increased risk of POF.

Benzyl Alcohol
Hospira brand of Vitamin K contains 9 mg. benzyl alcohol.
Benzyl Alcohol is known to sometimes cause Gasping Baby Syndrome which can be fatal. Here is an article that talks about babies that died from Benzyl Alcohol back in the '70's.
Benzyl alcohol can also damage the brain.
Jaundice within two days of birth is considered common occurring in 30-50% of babies. How much of this is because of the liver damage caused by the Benzyl Alcohol?
I know that none of my three children had any degree of jaundice, and they did not receive the Vitamin K injection.
Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol is the main ingredient in anti-freeze.
At the time that I was considering Vitamin K shots for my babies, I was only aware of this ingredient in the shot, and did not know about the Polysorbate 80 or the Benzyl Alcohol.
Injecting Propylene Glycol directly into my baby while at the same time I had been trying to avoid using it in shampoos, skin care and food products, did not make one drop of sense to me.

There are two brands of Injectable Vitamin K used in the USA: Amphastar & Hospira.

Doctors may tell you that there is a "Preservative-Free" Vitamin K Injection. They are talking about "Amphastar". What the doctor is NOT telling you is that Amphastar has 10 milligrams of Polysorbate 80, and also contains Propylene Glycol.
"Preservative-Free" is NOT SAFE!
The Oral Vitamin K is a much better option than the injectable Vitamin K. However it may be difficult to acquire it and to convince your physician or midwife to use it instead.
A baby is born with a low level of Vitamin K for a reason. They slowly build it up until it reaches full amounts at Day-8. Who are we to think that we know better than the way humans were designed to survive? Yes, there will always be rare emergency situations, but should we routinely over-ride what has worked for humanity for thousands of years?
The really crazy thing is that the chances of needing a Vitamin K injection to prevent rare cases of fatal bleeding after the birth, would GREATLY diminish if only the medical world would stop another harmful practice -- EARLY CORD CUTTING!
As usual, they are trying to solve another problem that they are largely responsible for creating in the first place!

Having midwives helped because they are more understanding of choice. My last midwife wad pretty insistant though but finally said she would be okay with it as long as the birth didn't end up traumatic for the baby.

When my wife and I refused this jab for our baby, the hospital staff went nuts, called out their lawyers and made it into a huge ordeal. My (now ex) wife caved under the pressure, but we had both already signed the waiver and I refused to remove my signature, so our son didn't get this leukemia-inducing poison.
Issues like this cost me my marriage, and ultimately custody of my kid. But at least it's some consolation knowing I did what I could to prevent him being poisoned during the formative years.
What a flip-out! Doctors sure can hate being questioned. Sorry you were both bullied so badly. It can take a lot of grit to stick with the plan of avoiding Vit K, especially if one spouse waivers.

Read enough of these articles and you start to feel that someone is actually trying to kill children off.
When I was born, the "in thing" was that mother's milk wasn't good for babies. And so they gave my mom a dry up shot, without even asking her (so she said, but I have found too much evidence that my mother was not as truthful as I thought)
And so, I have a lot of problems. Allergic to everything. Except lactose intolerance.
The same "dry up" shot was given to my aunt. In that day (about 53 years ago) in Alberta it was not the norm to breastfeed. But my dad's mom was insistent with the daughter-in-laws (my mom & aunt) that they must breastfeed. My aunt remembers trying and trying to breastfeed but it wasn't working -- only be find out that the pills that she had been taking in hospital included one for drying up the milk. She hadn't thought to ask what the pills were and she had informed the staff that she was going to breastfeed. So yes, that type of thing did happen.
I believe that any injection to a newborn or any child under the age of two is not safe. Their young immune systems are still developing and is not fit to fight off any foreign agent put into their body especially through a needle m, bypassing the normal route. A severe autoimmune reaction to any ingredient even if it's a so called synthetic vitamin may damage or harm a baby. 🎀 @canadian-coconut Thank You for your very helpful health info 👍🏼
Yes, I agree that the injecting anything into a baby should only be done if there is a serious situation where the child is likely to be harmed if you don't give them a life-saving injection. Many European countries use the Oral Vitamin K instead, so would think that they would at least go that route in North America.
To do this routinely to all babies, regardless of their risk factor is terrible. It should not be a one-size-fits all scenario.

OMG !!! Im so happy to have said NO to the vitamin K shot to my newborn. Instead we gave the baby some vitamine K drops for a couple of weeks
