Can You Die of Brokenheartedness?

in #health7 years ago

You may try to deny it, but it is true that you cannot separate your own health from your emotions. When you are brokenhearted, this can have a great effect on your body because of stress. You may not know it, but being stressed can wreak havoc on your physical health. Stress is often defined as a threat – whether imagined or real – which is why the body will act in response to it. Remember that all your emotions, both positive and negative, can generate physiological changes, including to your:

  • Skin
  • Digestion
  • Muscles
  • Joints
  • Energy levels
  • Body cells
  • Hair
  • Heart rate

When you’re brokenhearted, you feel stressed and this plays a major role in your immunity system. This can lead to higher cholesterol levels (bad cholesterol, that is), high blood pressure, poor brain chemistry, high blood sugar levels, hormonal imbalances, and many others. Since you are brokenhearted, you eventually end up with cardiovascular illnesses.

Women are More Prone to Being Brokenhearted

Women are more vulnerable when it comes to anxiety and sadness than men. Many studies have proven this, which is why more women are more subject to having a broken heart. The pressures of stress are not as common in their male peers, which is why it is important that women find ways to eliminate stress in their life.

To recognize that you are stressed, here are some of the symptoms:

  • You react negatively to most situations.
  • Your emotions are not appropriate for the circumstance.
  • You easily feel overpowered, overworked, or overwhelmed.
  • You’d rather be alone.

Stress and Broken Heart Can Affect Your Health

When you are continually exposed to stressors or you are dealing with something that you think you can’t take, this may lead to poorer health. There is a reason why it is called a “broken heart” and it is mainly because it gives you the feeling that your heart is broken, therefore causing you to feel pain. When you are in this kind of emotional pain, you are likely to suffer from cardiac problems. This is considered the biggest problem with the highest possibility when you are broken-hearted.

Disasters and stress can increase hormones that promote the “fight or flight” reaction. This often does not have a good result, especially to health because it can affect blood sugar, blood pressure, and other things that can lead to poor heart health. Additionally, this can provoke anger and can leave you feeling helpless. Oftentimes, those who are broken-hearted resort to turning to bad habits, such as eating too much and drinking a lot of alcohol, which are activities that can harm the heart.

It is time to take stress management very seriously. Accept that stress elimination is not possible, especially if your aim is to get rid of it entirely. However, you can deal with stress through a number of methods, such as exercising, sleeping adequately, meditating, and eating healthy.

thank you so much bro!

People really do die of broken Hearts. When you suffer such a tramatic experience, it puts a ton of stress on your heart and many people don't let themselves heal properly. It is super sad.

Exactly! and if they don't heal themselves properly it may bring them into a very sinful decision on ending up their own life.

Absolutely meaningful post. Health is the real wealth !!!
(& stay away from the heartbreaks!!!)
Upped !

really good info, this is something most people are not aware of unfortunately, so they pay no attention to it. Stress (negative emotions) definitely cause havoc in your life. Thanks for sharing!

I've been through so much hell in my life probably more than what the average person has been through. If my worst fear comes true I KNOW that will finish me off. I am not talking about an actual act of suicide or anything like that. I have learned what my limits are over time and this is why I loathe anyone saying how "strong" I am. Not more than the average person.

Nice one! Upped
