Halloween Music from the 1960s Part 1 - I Put A Spell On You!
It's almost All Hallow's Eve, the night before All Saints Day. On the Day of the Dead, weird spooky strange things are out and about. Enjoy thee season with some scary crazy music!
I could start this series off with the one song everyone associates with Halloween in the 60s - The Monster Mash, by Bobby "Boris" Picket. It's on the radio this time of year, and its been that way since the early 60s.
But instead I'll start by putting a spell on you - you will UP Vote and Comment this, and Come Back for Part 2 of the series, and Beyond! :D
I Put A Spell On You was originally done by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956. But since this blog is about 1960s music, we'll look at the cover by Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR).
This is the version I can dig! It's a little faster tempo and its full of 60s guitar sounds. The drums start it off, then the reverbed guitar comes in, followed by screamin' John Fogerty! :)
There are plenty of cool 60s guitar sounds in the long guitar break in this version, and you can really freak out while you listen to the psychedelic vibes!
