Meet HairShares: donate your hair to get tokens, power upvotes, resteems and more!
What is Hairshares?
Hair shares is a donation program that encourages people to donate their hair to charitable causes. The project was started by @nepd whose wife's late mother suffered from hair loss due to cancer and used to wear wig.
This inspired his wife and after the passing away of her mother she decided to continuously donate hair to charities - hence the @hairshares project.
Unlike most charitable causes however, this project has a capitalist feel to it. Participants who can donate hair get rewarded with BitShares assets like HairShares, BeyondBits, WhaleShares and other tokens which could be traded for money on Bittrex or redeemed for upvotes.
They have one interesting motto;
~Your hair is the gift that keeps on giving~
How to participate in HairShares
As a Steemian, all you need to do is;
- ensure that your hair is of good quality to donate
- donate your hair to any of the charities below,
- write a post to with picture or video to prove it
- add the tag "hairshares to your post
- that is it!

What other ways can you support?
Aside from donation hair there are other ways you can support this initiative;
- delegate Steem power to the @hairshares account so donors will be reward with huge upvotes
- upvote and resteem hairshares posts by donors
- donate tokens(Steem, Steem Dollars, BTC, WhareShares, ...) to donors
Why donate a hair?
Hairs donated to charities are not sold, they are freely given to patients and other people who suffer from hair loss and need wigs.
Besides, its all a voluntary program, you only donate if you want and you get to decide how much to donate as well as to which charity to donate to.
