Winter prompts

in #haikucontest6 years ago

{No intro blurb this time around, I think I'll save that more for... Friday... So let's talk about snow: the snow in my area is both slushy wet and pure snow! So basically, it's impossible to shovel it off so people can traverse areas they need to go. And even if thou could get the snow off the walkway, you'd probably most likely spread ice around by shaking that shovel which was still wet. Fun! and tiring! (Yes that grammatically is correct, blame it on Middle English)... Anyways, this post belongs to @vdux's Haiku Contest and includes a 50-word tasker. Have fun! (Also no music-aides as well this time around. If you want some, Snowdin from Undertale's OST will work.)}

- Winteric prelude -

"Ashuri!~"

"Right here Saddie~"

"Isn’t it pretty, all the snowflakes dancin’?"

"Not as pretty as you, my Pirate~"

"Oh!~ Well, you maybe a Witch-in-trainin’, but you hex’d my heart-!"

"He he, gotcha Saddie~"

"Arrgh, fly like the snowflakes or be peppered by my snowball barrage!"

"Bomb me if you can."

No end blurb either...

No one 'ere? Good. Well, let's talk about @bananafish's recent 2000 SP delegation and Friday's post then!

For the former: congrats to @f3nix doing a magnificent job in garnering a 2000 SP delegation for the Great @bananafish! Now the @bananafish can support our members in the Mizu No Oto Contest and the Finish the Story contest! Also small congrats to @dirge on becoming a core member of the @bananafish family; no I won't redo the same speech here... Got too many spies spying on us, damn anti-potassium (forever known as, fka, anti-K) agents...

For the latter: well these two pieces are good hints into what I am dealing with. For the haiku, well that's self-explanatory to where they're going. For the 50-word tasker, well it's going to be definitely included in the Friday post; can't get any more into that before I spoil it more than I have already. I love giving these hints, hopefully thou will take interest to my non-contest posts. Anyways, if thou was wondering about a thing, the prelude is appropriately named for both a prelude to their story and an indicator of their age (yes they're younger than their normal appearance in my regular stories).

But that's all I'm hinting at, the last thing of note would be this: this is my first non-contest post where I do intentionally delve into Ashley's and Saddie's adolescent relationship; now how do I properly reduce the personal power of characters in what effectively counts as a backstory in D&D terms? This will be fun~

Another magnificent haiku. I've never seen the snow or natural ice formations, but I'm very drawn to the "crystalizing rot" line of your haiku! I think it really says something about a fact that I tend to forgot: that snow and ice are still only water, and that they, once melted, will also contribute to the rot of our fragile constructions... Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but that's what I thought when I saw the mold on the walls on that picture.

Your hints went totally over my head! But I'm starting to build an image of what you're preparing and that's what matters to me. Really looking forward to your Friday drop!

Uw-wa-peckin'-wU ~ Thanks for double reading and thanks for the compliments! Anyways, I gave some explanation of the hints in the end blurb (which I think you read if yer already building an image). Anywho, yer not overthinking/reading too much into it; anything which can help the text shall always aide in the understanding of a scene, audio especially. Any a which, I think I got the general plan consolidated for Friday; just need to look for music-aides and start formatting the html. (I never write down my ideas, I actually make new ones as I start formatting a post to life. Of course, this helps me because I can actually see the text and know ahead of time when something's too much or in need of more padding.) The one character I forgot to actually hint at is actually Red, but I think my comment here will serve as good of a hint of who's in the Friday story.
