Gridcoin Hangout #003 (RSVP & Suggest topics)
Gridcoin Hangout #003
A massive shout out to the BeyondBitcoin community & @officialfuzzy for providing the Gridcoin community a room in their mumble server for free.
What is Gridcoin?
Gridcoin securely rewards BOINC computation on top of Proof of Stake. Reward allocation is distributed, not centralized unlike other distributed computing related cryptocurrencies.

Past episode details
- The second Gridcoin Hangout had an attendance of approx 11 individuals, the majority of whom were from the Gridcoin community.
- Link to soundcloud channel
- #002 RSVP & Topic suggestion thread
Why are we holding these hangouts?
- A mumble conference call can provide significant advantages over communicating via forums and IRC.
- To create opportunities to inform the public of new Gridcoin, BOINC and related services & their development progress.
- To bridge relations between the cryptocurrency & BOINC communities.
How long will the hangout last?
The first Gridcoin Hangout lasted 2.5 hours of recorded time, with 40 mins beforehand (to get rid of nerves & introduce yourself) and a couple unrecorded hours after the hangout completed (for more casual communication).
The second Gridcoin Hangout lasted approx 3 hours, hopefully we can reduce this to a couple hours of official recorded time in the future.
Want to suggest a topic to discuss?
Reply with your suggestions in this Steem post & order of discussion will be from highest to lowest voted suggestions.
Can we discuss anything?
It's advisable to stay generally on topic, users are distributed around the world so they may not share the same views regarding controversial topics not related to Gridcoin/BOINC/Cryptocurrency & nobody wan't to be tuning into an argument.

Topic suggestion:
Reaching out to the BOINC project management governance/committee regarding the 4th gen credit system proposal, how consensus is measured within the BOINC community, an introduction and explanation of how the project governance model works, etc.
Topic suggestion:
Reaching out to BOINC project admins to give an introduction/explanation of their BOINC project, why users should crunch their projects and what they think of Gridcoin?
Establishing a working relationship with BOINC project admins will foster a healthy relationship between the BOINC and Gridcoin communities.
Topic Suggestion:
News regarding the GRIDCOIN MPA & our integration into Openledger!
Furthermore, getting them to hurry up on adding Gridcoin Gateway wallet.
Payment has been made to OpenLedger, now it's a waiting game!
Topic suggestion:
Purging the Gridcoin whitelist of non-SSL projects; by the time this 3rd hangout is held, we will have given projects 2 weeks to get back to Neuralminer regarding implementing SSL.
I'll have an update posted on the thread soon.

topic suggestion:
voting: uscore free promo?
quote cm: "I don't think it should be paid out, uscore has been charging 3* market rates for GRC 'packages' for a couple years now."
voting still possible for next 27h.
e.g. in linux you can vote like this:
go to the debug console, and type:
execute vote expense_submissionuscore_free_promo_grc[foundation_f55a71df-9af4-413c-af12-8e21c0b7d6cf] Deny
(or Approve instead of Deny)
I know I'm doing this a little late, since it's a day before the hangout. I would like to attend and possibly discuss over some things that may not be listed here.
Topic Suggestion(s):
-- CubeSats, New Pools, Various SoC, etc.
-- Because images consume more bytes than code does in the client, not that the client is bloated, yet.
--Basically: exploits, various hacks and brainstorming about ways to fix/secure the blockchain, if need be.

These are the top3 items for today's audio conference:
Other topics' prio here
If you didn't vote yet, please do, since I will do another check 1h before the conference.
Topic Suggestion:
Another late reply, sorry. I've been doing some work every week on Linux WINE windows client QA development. I suggest to discuss the potential that WINE has for Linux users who wish to have the ability to put together a "superblock" and fully participate in the neural network. Also maybe talk about other features that the WINE/Mono user can utilize running the client under those platforms, instead of relying on Windows. Which, as we all sorta know, uses more overhead than Linux.
I made some suggestions about promoting Gridcoin market value that may be worth discussing:
https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@stevescoins/suggestions-for-gridcoin-to-earn-market-value
Could you provide an TL;DR in bullet point format? Cheers :)
-One, that volunteers within the community organize as a team to promote the value of Gridcoin
-Two, that this "finance team" put together a plan of defined objections for this increase of value
-Three, that roles be assigned to each objective, and individuals asked to be responsible for achieving each objective
-Four, that the BOINC community needs to be enveloped in the Gridcoin fold as a reward for their current efforts
-Five, that state institutions need to be sold on the idea of accepting Gridcoin
The overall TL;DR is that we need as a community to create a finance team to work with coordination with the dev team to create demand for Gridcoin. I stress that the finance team needs to avoid creating conflict or unrealistic market expectations that would interfere with the dvs' work.
thx!
Topic Suggestion:
Any projects people would like to see added to the whitelist.
you mentioned SRBASE in chat, so we could talk about that for a little bit
