Yeah, it's pretty crazy. If you look on that map you can see where they're still being replenished and where there is less drawdown- you can pretty closely relate that with factors like the presence of rivers, or, in the case of Nebraska, sandy substrate that lets water soak in and reach the aquifer incredibly quickly in comparison to other places.
