This was a really nice read. I never sit down and really think about this issue. I hear that " we are running out of water " all of the time but for some reason it never really sunk in the amount of time necessary to replace aquifers.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy. If you look on that map you can see where they're still being replenished and where there is less drawdown- you can pretty closely relate that with factors like the presence of rivers, or, in the case of Nebraska, sandy substrate that lets water soak in and reach the aquifer incredibly quickly in comparison to other places.
