Home Garden Update 3 - The Good The Bad & The Dead
So! Lots of things happening around here now! Everything's a bit bigger, a bit stronger, and... some things are dead or dying.
I love to grow things, but I'm FAR from expert status. Plus with everything else going on I often overlook important details on how to grow some things properly, resulting in a total mess 😆
But, I think that's just how gardening is to a certain extent, making mistakes and learning from them!
First I'll show you what's doing well;
My peas!
This year I planted a ton of sugar Ann peas and there's already some visible! I've tasted a couple and they're absolutely delicious!!
Next, nasturtiums!
This is my first time growing these beauties and I thought I still had no flower buds, but I found one! Yay!
The leaves are healthy and the stems are strong, so it should be a great crop! Can't wait to taste the flowers! ❤️
My soy and kale are growing fantastically!!
The kale has already been picked a bit by little fingers, eager for the summer treats of the garden :)
I can't forget about my beans!
These tri-coloured are looking good too, though I did have to replant some, the bunnies were excited about them as well! LoL
Peppers!!
Yay peppers! I've got three cayenne pepper plants I started from seed and a habanero I bought. They're all growing very nice and strong in the greenhouse!
Now for the bad news.
My luffa is .. well, for lack of a better word, fucked.
This is my second attempt and it's gonna be another fail.
I'm going to try again next year though, and I've got much more insight and tricks up my sleeves! Hopefully I can finally get my luffa to produce some sponges next time!
My corn looks sad.
But it's still alive! LoL
And most of my carrots didn't come up in this bed, so I planted some more, they're mostly just for fun anyway, we have about a billion out at our other garden space.
Much of my broccoli/ cauliflower/ romanesco bolted unfortunately, with the crazy heat we've been having it's no wonder really.
I've since mulched it so hopefully some of them survive and those that bolted will at least give me beautiful seeds!
My spinach ended up with leaf miners and it also bolted so that was a big fail.
And the romaine lettuce next to it had only two plants actually come up.
I have planted more but my seeds are old so I might just get the two out of it, which is ok, they're both so perfect and beautiful!
Anyway, that's some of my failures and wins for this year, overall I'm happy with what we have and I can't wait to start eating everything!! Yum!
Take care everyone!!

Well done. It's looking awesome. I'm looking forward to having a veggie garden again. It's one of the things I've missed the most being away from home. I shall live vicariously through you in the meantime 💙
Glad I can help on some way! LoL
Hopefully you get your dream garden soon!! :)
