Lily's Little Garden: Twisty Rose Bush and Flowering Purple Plant
My rose bush has exploded in growth since I last pruned it and took pictures. It's really getting strong and weird and distinguished now which is fun.
I've had this purple plant for awhile but I don't know what it is. It finally just started to flower again today for the first time in a long time.

Your rose looks like an original rose variety; the old natural roses, cultivar.
I always wondered why modern garden roses (hybrid tea) grow stems from the roots that look like these leaves (so different); but it's because most hybrid roses are grafted to the original rose roots and stem.
