Clash Royale: 2017 Crown Championship World Finals
Today I was lucky enough to go to the Clash Royale 2017 Crown Championship World Finals at the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park Stratford.
On entering Westfield the first signs that there was a Clash Royale event were the helpers holding up Clash Royale Word Final signs up directing visitors to the arena.
The long walk took me through Westfield and out past the Olympic Stadium, where I managed to get this great picture of the stadium.
It was a dreary day but this was quickly forgotten when I arrived at the Copper Box arena.
As would be expected at an event in London there was lots of security and checks on the entrance to the venue.
I must say the arena was really really impressive and you have to give hats off to Supercell for the effort that was put into the event.
It is difficult to do the venue justice with these pics. The prize fund was pretty impressive with the winner picking up $150,000.
There were 16 players in the tournament and the format was straight knockout, the players were :-

The First round matches were :-
MusicMaster 2-1 YaoYao
Andrian Piedra 2-0 Geltube
Winds 2-1 Coltonw83
Fuchi 1-2 Berin
Xbow Master 1-2 SergioRamos
Electr1fy 2-0 CMcHugh
Loupanji 0-2 Quiet
Tali 2-0 Amaterasu

The Second round was
MusicMaster 2-0 Andrian Piedra
Winds 2-0 Berin
SergioRamos 2-0 Electr1fy
Quiet 1-2 Tali
The best match of this round was Quiet v Tali it was really tense as Tali was in total control of the game and Quiet looked like he was going out but pulled out a great win to level one all. I must say I was rooting for Tali, at 34 he was the oldest contestant in the tournament and is a great Clash player.
The Semi final consisted of:-
MusicMaster 2-1 Winds
SergioRamos 2-1 Tali
The shock of this round was SergioRamos coming back from 1 down to win 2-1, Tali looked like the winner to me but it wasn't to be. These results meant that two 16 year olds would contest the final.
The Final
MusicMaster 1-3 SergioRamos
SergioRamos lost the first game but there was no stopping him after that, winning the next 3 games to win the 5 game final 3-1 and pick up the crown and title of World Champion.
I like playing Clash Royale but the main reason I went to the event was to see how far esports have come over the last few years, the venue holds 7,500 and it was pretty full. There is still a long way to go but I can see esports only getting bigger and better in the coming years., so the future looks very bright indeed.
