Ten PS4 games you can play with your sweetheart

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

or friends... Are you annoyed of watching stupid romantic comedies with your girlfriend? Do you want to play games, but you can't do it because she would tell you that you don't care about her? Or do you want to play something with her in the evening, but you have no idea what game supports split-screen or co-op? I have a solution for you!

I've prepared ten games I played with my boyfriend on PS4.

Before I start, I would like to point out that this list doesn't contain shooters much. Most of them support split-screen, but this article is more about games that you can play with your love that still doesn't know how to use a controller and because I suck at them. Only in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 I'm better than my boyfriend :D

Games you can play on one controller:

Yes, you are reading correctly. If you don't have two controllers yet, or if you are expecting some discount before buying them, we've discovered two games that can be played by two people on one controller. These games are more recommended to couples because it would seem stupid if you kept one controller with a friend.

These games are single-player, but because they have two characters, each controlled by a different joystick, it can be quite complicated. Especially when it is necessary to act quickly in the game with the synchronization of both characters.

1. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Genre: Adventure
Plot: Two brothers are trying to find a cure for their sick father.

Your task is to control younger and older brother on their way to the Tree of Life. You are traveling through a magical landscape full of fairy tale characters that you will have to help or avoid. In addition to solving puzzles, you can enjoy a beautiful view or flush into the well.

The environment and the story are really great and touching, and I guarantee that you will cry. I was crying a lot at the end.

Why? You will have to find out for yourself.

2. Entwined

Genre: Action, Rhythm game
Plot: Two souls (bird and fish) love each other but can not be together.

In this game, you control the soul of the fish and the second soul of the bird at the same time through a few lifetime in the form of colored fields that you have to swim/fly through with the correct character. Of course, levels are getting harder, quicker, etc. so it's quite possible that you'll have to be furious a few times. If you fly through the field you will hear the tone that makes up the song so that you can practice your sense of rhythm. And who knows, maybe the song will help you perform the combo.

It's a game you don't play because of the story. Instead, you will relax, if you aren't furious at the fact that your dear suck at controlling her character.

When you have two controllers:

The games mentioned above are single player, but as you can see, two people can play them on one controller. But if you prefer comfort and don't want to be directly dependent on the other player's activities, break your piggy bank and buy the second controller. There are plenty of games you can play together on a split screen or as a co-op. All you need is bigger TV (to see something on the screen) and two controllers.

3. Minecraft

Genre: Sandbox, Survival
Plot: -

Well, is there anything to be written?

If you like survival, you can survive together in wildlife filled with zombies, spiders and other enemies and adjust and set it to suit your tastes, and if you prefer building castles, sculptures, and other buildings simply try creative mode and do what you want.

Warning: If you build more awesome buildings than your partner, he will uninstall the game :D

4. Diablo III

Genre: RPG, Hack and slash
Plot:

Twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Deckard Cain and Leah are in Tristram Cathedral investigating ancient texts regarding an ominous prophecy. A mysterious star falling from the sky strikes the Cathedral, creating a deep crater into which Deckard Cain disappears.

During four acts you perform quests, murder bosses, clean dungeons and gradually improve your characters. Playing in two will make it so easy for you to play the game that you will play it at one of the most difficult levels right from the start, and don't despair when you finish the campaign! The game has plenty to offer, and you can try to get a platinum trophy. We already have it.

It is a co-op. The screen doesn't split. If you move away from viewing area, the view is expanding, and if you are too far away, one of the players is automatically ported to the other. Quite often it ports you to the worst battle, or you will look and control the other character because you think that it's you.

5. Skylanders: Swap Force

Genre: Toys-to-life, RPG, Adventure, Platform
Plot:

During the last eruption ceremony, something tragic happened. Kaos' Mother aimed to destroy the volcano, but a team of Skylanders defended it. After that, the volcano erupted, sending these Skylanders to Earth. The volcano's eruption gave these Skylanders the ability to swap their tops and bottoms, transforming them into the Swap Force.

To play the game, you need to buy a Starter Pack containing a game stand and three basic characters. If you want to have more, I think that some of the other Skylanders games are compatible or you just have to buy them. Swap Force is special because some character figurines can be split and mixed in different ways.

It's just a game for kids, so don't expect any hardcore battles, even though some bosses have been pretty tough. The game consists of classic main missions and then mini-games to collect extra artifacts and extra money. The disadvantage is that there are several elements that represent the individual characters and the minigames are tied to them. This will force you to buy more figurines because the basic ones are not enough to discover the whole game.

6. Rocket League

Genre: Sports
Plot: -

In Rocket League you play football. But it's not ordinary football because you don't control players but cars. A split screen is available to play with your friend.

It is another game I can't really control, and I'm just angry every time. The worst is when the car goes out on the roof of the stadium, and you don't know how to get out.

7. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2

Genre: Tower defense, Third-person shooter
Plot: -

In the beginning, I said that this article is not about shooters, but there is one. It is Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, which we have recently installed and this is one of the few shooters where I'm better than my boyfriend. Probably it will be because I play only one character from each faction - orange for plants and scientist for zombies. My boyfriend changes a lot of characters over one game. I have many times been among the best players in multiplayer.

It can be played on split screen, and you can play it yourself or try multiplayer. There are a lot of modes, and when the game is difficult, you can buy a variety of features to help you.

8. LittleBigPlanet 3

Genre: Puzzle-platformer, Sandbox
Plot:

LittleBigPlanet 3 begins in a white void, as the Narrator teaches your controls on how to use the player character Sackboy. Midway through the opening, Newton interrupts the Narrator, and uses one of his devices to create a wormhole. This wormhole sends Sackboy to another world called Bunkum, where he is then greeted by Newton. Newton begins to tell a story on how Nana Pud is going to unleash three Titans that were sealed away long ago in a tea jar by Bunkum's heroes.

In this game, you control your ragged hero with levels filled with various puzzles and traps and bosses. You are gradually collecting other characters, each of which has its specific feature that others do not. E.g., bird flies. So you have to switch smartly between them to reach your goal.

It's played on one screen, and some boss battles are so sophisticated that you will tear your hair off as you can't beat them. If I remember it well, you have only a limited amount of lives, and once you waste it, the level must complete the other player without you. If he dies, you can start over again.

9. Divinity: Original Sin (Enhanced Edition)

Genre: RPG
Plot:

The protagonists of the game are a pair of "Source Hunters": members of an organization dedicated to eradicating a dangerous type of magic known as "Source" and its adepts, known as "Sourcerers".

Since the combat in this game is turn-based, you are not forced to push the various buttons insanely, and you have to think about each turn, for which you have plenty of time. It is not so much about skill, so it's ideal for beginners as well. A split screen is available. By default, the game is set so that the screen is split only when both players are far away. But it made us quite a bit nervous when the game switched over (mainly in combat) that we set the forced split screen.

The game has another advantage in that if you want to do something different then your partner, you can. You are not bound to yourself, unlike other games. On the other hand, I don't recommend it, because the enemies are always more and the fighting is not easy.

10. ARK: Survival Evolved

Genre: Survival, Open world
Plot: -

A great survival game that is still better playable in two. You will find yourself in wildlife full of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures, and your goal is to explore as much as possible and gain access to the mysterious technology that is on the island (+/- we are still at the beginning).

Either you can create your server, which you can customize or you can join an existing one within multiplayer. There is also a split screen, but I don't recommend it because the text is terribly small and it will ruin your eyesight. Notwithstanding the worsening of graphics. But if you don't let this disadvantages spoil the game or you have a TV over the entire wall in the living room, you can build your prehistoric empire and catch your favorite dinosaur from childhood.

Warning: Partner conflicts and explosions of anger may occur.

🎮🎮🎮

So it was a selection of several games that we sometimes played or play with my boyfriend. There are, of course, much more. Here I have listed only those I remember.

If there is a game missing here, write it to the comments so we can play it when we don't know what to play again. Thank you :)

May the seed be with you! :D

Sort:

My boyfriend mentioned Little Big Planet a couple of times! I think he has the game on the PS...3? He wants to play it together, but we keep forgetting :D

I understand, you have Ark now :D I like to remind you of Little Big Planet! It looks like a game for kids, but sometimes it is surprisingly difficult.

Aye, my boyfriend did tell me multiple times it's a really fun co-op game :D

Little Big Planet is reeeaally fun playing in Coop , you should try it !

I definitely have to try it one day, yes! :D

This post included a great variety! I personally love Rocket League, although it can get frustrating pretty quickly. It's cool to see that you provided a much wider variety of games as to just the typical casual games. There is at least one game for anyone in here.

I never want to play Rocket League because I'm not able to hit the ball :D

Well, the list is such because we are looking for and trying different games that we can play in two, without shooters, because I don't like them. It's just annoying to search the internet for games that support co-op, so I wanted to write down some list for the others :) It's a fact that we don't have any favorite genre, we're trying everything.

Well, I do struggle to get hit the ball, so what I do is interrupt and hit the enemy cars so I let my teammates hit the ball hahahaha

Good tactics, but I wouldn't even hit the car, and if I would it would be my teammate :D

This is not just a "ten games" list, this is more like an ultimate guide. Great read :D

For a game you don't play for the story, Entwined sounds like it have a very touching (back)story. Well, maybe not as much of a tear-jerker as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, but still. "Two souls who love each other but can never be together." That sounds as sorrowful as it is romantic.

Thank you a lot!
In individual levels, you don't notice a story at all. Maybe there is a mention after each evolution, but I can't remember it anymore. It's about four years back.
They just had to devise a story to make the game have some sense, not just random levels about nothing :D

You forgot Overcooked!

If a couple can play that game together and not shout at each other - they are meant to be together... ;)

Finally, someone with a game which is not on the list! Thanks a lot, we'll try it. It looks like a pretty crazy game :D

Great list, I highly recommend Divinity: Original Sin for coop play.

Thanks and I fully agree. It is noob-friendly thanks to turn-based battles and it is too much thinking for a single person.

"TOP something" are usually low effort articles, but dude, this one is good!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :)

Good article, for game lovers!!

Trošku off topic reakce, ale díky moc za donkeyho upvote!

Rádo se stalo :)

haha lol this is pretty cool. i might try some of these out.

You definitely should :)
