in #gaming7 years ago

Hi Steemit community! This is me, also known as perfecthokage by some. This is my third post here in this Steemit platform and I would love to connect with so many of you, like honestly. I will like to build a small League community which stands for the game, League of Legends, which I love. To play the game and share the knowledge I have acquired the past few years (since Season 3) and to take part in discussions about champions and patches is what I envisioned I will be doing here in the future. If you love League of Legends and Steemit community, follow me and engage with me. I will definitely returned the favor and I hope this news will spread far into the future.

In today’s post, I will be talking about wave management, the second part series to my 101 Basics of laning phase. In the first part, I talked about how to make good trades within the lane and when to execute it. Today, we will be talking about the most crucial tip about laning phase that will enable you to extend your lead within the lane so much more. If you have 10 minutes to spare, check out my latest video down below which is a video version of wave management. Enjoy!

,

Wave management is about controlling the pace of the laning phase. It is about putting the wave in a spot that is favorable to you, only you but detrimental to your opponent. So in every laning phase, there will be 3 locations where the wave is generally located. I will be breaking down what each location of wave provides you and what you can do in that scenario and when should you position yourself in that way. So every location, there will be 3 main things I will be discussing about. (See previous sentence if you miss out)

(First location)

The first location is the neutral spot. This spot is where neither sides are having any advantage and are equally prone to jungler ganks. The wave generally lies within here when both laners are of equivalent dominance and are attempting to battle it out or it is after a wave reset. A wave reset is when both sides of the party are able to clear out the first wave before the second wave arrives, causing the position of the wave to be in this neutral position. There are 3 things you can do in this scenario. The first is to battle it out fair and square with your enemy as you do not want your opponent to push you into the tower. Number 2 is to push you the wave by auto attacking and using spells so as to force your enemy to farm under tower. This will be further discuss in the second location. The last and third thing you can do is to let your enemy pushed the wave in towards your side so as to facilitate ganks which will be further discussed in the third location.

(Creating pressure)

The second location you can see is where you are closer to the enemy turret. This spot has its benefits and disadvantages. This spot normally occurs when you can push the wave faster than your opponent by throwing in more spells and auto attacks. It can also occur when your opponent left the lane to make a roam or when your enemy just went back to base. The main idea of pushing the wave into the enemy tower is to DENY the GOLD and EXPERIENCE that the enemy COULD HAVE obtained if the wave is just left in the neutral spot, the first location. Primarily, it is only good to be in this spot when you know that your opponent will have trouble farming under the tower. However, do take note that while you are in this spot, you will be putting out more pressure than your enemy which is good and bad. Good is that if a skirmish was to occur somewhere else within the map, you will be able to rotate first to help your team before your opponent. Bad thing is that you are so much more likely to get ganked by the enemy jungler compared to your opponent, hence it is crucial you pay more attention to the jungler’s location.

The third spot is the reverse scenario of the second location. Its pros and cons are just the opposite of the second location but seen in a different light. It is good as you will be less likely to be ganked by your enemy jungler and easier to setup ganks with your jungler on your opponent. However, it is bad as you are putting out less pressure compared to your laner and you might have troubled farming under the turret. This spot generally occurs when your opponent pushes the wave harder compared to you. In this scenario, there will be more enemy minions compared to yours which can eventually set up to become a FREEZE. You only want to be in this spot when you know you are truly stronger than your enemy or when you are trying to play safe. If you are stronger, you will be able to ZONE your opponent off the GOLD and EXPERIENCE the minions provide which is the primary purpose of this location. You need to take good care of the wave by trimming it so as to prevent the wave from crashing into your tower as when it crashes, a wave reset will occurred as discussed earlier. By ZONE, I mean by walking up and denying your opponent. Your opponent will have to walk up further into the lane and which puts her in an unfavorable position mainly because she can get ganked easily and you will win the trade heavily against her.

(It's all about the pressure, how you apply and handle it)

If you have noticed, the second and third locations are very similar and can be a good spot with the lane for you if you understand that spot. Pushing in the wave ( second location ) is a onetime short lasted denial as the next wave will reset its position. Freezing ( third location ) is a long lasting denial which if done well, could prevent your enemy from farming for more than 5 minutes. The key takeaways about wave management is knowing when to be in which location and what to do when you are there. That is how you extend your lead within the lane: By setting up good ganks, evading ganks and denying your opponent from GOLD and EXPERIENCE by showing them your LANE PROWNESS.

Hope this helps in furthering your understanding about wave management. ( My main purpose of this post ) Comment below what your thoughts about the content shared and what you will like to hear from me in the future. Until then, I will see you guys again soon.
