It took over 250 days but I finally caught a "Shiny" Magikarp in Pokémon GO!
A Shiny Pokémon variant is extremely rare and sought after for players worldwide. It's simply a case of checking every one you are looking for when travelling and collecting. The encounter rate for example when hunting Magikarp in the hope it will be a different colour is roughly 1 shiny found in every 254 Magikarp encountered in the wild!

Red GyradosA "Shiny" will display as an alternate colour in the battle and post-battle screens. When they evolve the next evolution also looks a different colour as seen above.

Does that mean you need 299 more shiny magikarp to get a shiny gyarados?
Or do you just need to include 1 in the 300?

It takes 400 Magikarp candies to evolve into Gyrados...
The candies used are generic so only need 100 more to get the shiny red evolution.
Each time you catch a Magikarp you get 3 candies so not long to go now!
OK I'm glad I'm not the only full grown man that still plays this. No shinys for me yet unfortunately

I went team mystic and only level 22,soon to be 23. Did it make a difference when picking a team. I just shut my eyes and pressed

The team selection doesn’t make a difference,
It only comes into play when participating in gyms.
