Ubisoft Reflection, known from Grow Home, comes with an arena shooter this fall. Atomega is not a standard shooter, but nonetheless an addictive one!

Get in shape

In Atomega you start every round as a small animal an Atom. By collecting chunks, it keeps growing. The bigger you become, the more life you get and harder your attacks. The chunks lie in various places from the arena of small underground tunnels to the top of the various buildings.

You can constantly monitor yourself before you evolve. You can see this by means of a bar that is filled as you collect blocks. This is not the only way by which you can grow. By shooting down the opponents, a part of the blocks that he / she has collected will lie within reach. The person who pulls you down again will have to start again from scratch.

So it is a constant struggle to collect blocks to eventually get the ultimate shape. This Omega form is in fact the most deadly, but there are restrictions here. You have to constantly search for blocks to keep this shape, since your health is slowly emptying. In addition, if you have this form, you will be highlighted and everyone knows where you are hiding and you are the easy target.

The larger forms also have the problem that not all areas are more accessible or that they get stuck. If you come under attack and do not win the battle, there is still a way to escape. By means of an escape you can be teleported to another location. However, it will be at the expense of the form, because you will degrade one.

Speed or strength?

So soon you get the choice to play the game on strength or speed. For example, you can start out very competitive by immediately chasing your enemies. Or just take a good form first and only then take the attack. If your opponent does not yet have the same shape, you can easily beat them.

In addition to these choices, you also have 'golden' blocks that can help you. These give you a temporary force. So you have a power through which you can run swiftly over the map or one that lets you grow faster or ensures that all the nearest blocks are drawn towards you.

These therefore provide an extra twist to the game and that also makes it so addictive. The constant speed of your enemies, but also have to watch out that others do not attack you. Or that you have a power-up that makes your attacks more powerful, so you get the slightly bigger opponent against the ground. It is hectic, but in a fun way and you constantly have the idea that you are being chased.

Atomega; addictive yet repetitive

Atomega is a fast arena shooter full of crazy twists. You do not have to follow hours-long single player or tutorials to master the game. Despite all this, the game seems to be made for a while. The game has only one folder and that starts to get boring after an hour. The graphics are also not really special and the map is also pretty monotonous in terms of colors and objects. The game, on the other hand, is very challenging and now that the game is played a bit more and more fun. Truly a game in which the motto "The more souls, the more joy" comes in handy.
