This War Of Mine Walkthrough: Day 3, The Raid and the Dare
All that can be heard are the sound of gunshots and dogs barking in the environment. It is the third day of our travail and we had hoped for a sweet jolly ride in the first few weeks. Alas, we were wrong. Bruno who was slightly wounded and had been helped with the med rested all through the night while Pavle was placed on guard, the tired Katia managed on the wooden chair in sacrifice for the team's well being. We had stocked the house with supplies that would have lasted us for a long while but looks like our preparations have come to nothing. An unexpected night raid even though Pavle was placed on guard by a bunch of scavengers who are equally in the race of survival. This has wounded my favourite character; Bruno who was just recovering. One setback, too many.
If only our Plan worked, we would just be resting and rummaging the house for usable(s) and eatables. I have never seen a house get raided by thieves with a guard on duty. The strange part is how Bruno who is resting on the bed was attacked and the Pavle on duty came out unscathed, in one piece. Thankfully though, not much was stolen, I had made a radio, a fireplace and a bed out of the materials we stole from the old couple so there was only a little left to "re-steal". Our food and Meds? They didn't take much so Bruno can help himself with a bandage. He does so and he is made to rest on the bed. The raid has proven that this game doesn't require being gentle and meek. We have to make daring moves. Tonight, Katia will set out on a Journey to the Hospital; The bandage is out and the hospital is our only hope of getting the much needed medical supplies... Who knows what's coming?
In the meantime, our plans have only slightly changed. We are still going to search the house for any item to find. Oh wait, someone's at the door. A dealer. This is a visit to expect whenever there's a raid. It helps you get your valued items back via trade by barter. Well, what does he have to offer?. He has alot of items on his list even our much needed bandage but....
The cost!
As valued as it is, we have pay for it with items of equivalent worth in the absence of currencies. Just a bandage will require 4 of our herbs and some of our raw food which we can't part with at the moment. Food and water are our primary objectives. We are doing this the hard way: The plan to storm the hospital still stands. Sorry man, not interested. He says we won't make it if our provisions run out. The problem is mine to worry!
Ok. What now? Search the house! Unfortunately, our lockpick is nowhere to be found, it has gone with the raid. It is a very essential tool in the opening of locked doors, although it is for single use, a lockpick is too much of a commodity to lose because a thoughtful decision in opening a door could unearth useful materials. Possibly in the next hunt, we would get materials and make a metal workshop out of 'em. A metal workshop, as its name implies, is used to make metals albeit useful ones; Shovels for clearing rubbles, crowbars for breaking doors (Similar use to the lockpick but slower), even knives for self-defense . Our materials can only half of the needed items to build the workshop, we still need 9 more wood planks.
What's next? Gallivant around the house and hope for something. Here comes one, Katia makes her way to the second floor. Oh! I never mentioned. It's a five-storey building. A ground floor, two additional floors at the top of it and two underground buildings, it sure is spacious enough for a long stay. A table in the second floor is surprisingly packed with some materials and sugar. Useful! She also gets to top floor bur she is met with rubbles and a locked door behind it, it all boils down to the lockpick and crowbar she tries to clear the rubbles and she looks to race with the time before nightfall.
THE NIGHT IS HERE
Pavle is now extremely tired so he's going to sleep on the bed tonight, Bruno? Bandaged and recovering but slightly tired, on the chair and Katia? Although she is hungry and has slept poorly, she is fit enough for the job. Off to the city hospital. There's huge amount of food, meds and materials, some parts but caution is advised. Of course, she's going to tread carefully. She just needs to fill her backpack and get out. Fortunately, she sees some items just at the entrance. It's surprising though since the city hospital is already decrepit.. Imminent danger!
She spots a soldier!
He approaches the entrance and downs some drugs, is he sick? Not Katia's concern. Her own safety is paramount. As it turns out, he is actually smoking and not taking drugs.. Either way, I can't have any sick person to babysit so I'm not taking my chances by going in. Uh oh! She's spotted and it's a relief. He says Katia shouldn't do anything stupid by messing with him. *Heaves a sigh of relief. She's passing him by.. She quickly grabs some items for her backpack since the soldier appears uninterested. Well, he can he really be called a soldier? He's masked.
Just on the second floor of the hospital is a nurse and a doctor. The latter proposes to trade my meds and bandages for some materials while the nurse asks if everything is alright with Katia. Apparently, she will be treating any form of sickness or injury. The hospital is a nice place anyway. This means I can bring Bruno or any sick character in for treatment, I just hope the reception is ever the same.
Her backpack is already full of materials, and the night is going to be cut short. She's home now with relative ease. Things went has planned and I can even say better. She's home with a lot of materials and good news about sick characters' treatment. Hopefully, we would be able to make an additional bed and a workshop with the materials. Interesting!
Until next time

Awesome to see someone playing something like This War of Mine here on Steemit, thanks for sharing!
I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (just made two about 98 and 2000) and there hasn't been anything quite like this game (as far as i can tell) that is relatively simple in regards to it's mechanics, yet with such an compelling story to tell and it hits you right in the feels when you are done with it, giving a lot to think about.
Yeah! You are absolutely right.
