Review and evaluation Greedfall

Role-playing games are one of the most beautiful games for me, especially those that are in ancient times and contain magic and strange creatures in addition to humanity that has not changed from that time to the present day. I've tried a lot of RPG titles and I can say after 17 hours of Greedfall that I know it's really a great role-playing game that makes up for its mistakes, simply if you're a fan of the genre, you'll definitely enjoy it.

At the beginning of the game, humans have discovered a new magical island inhabited by indigenous people and different magical and wild creatures. As expected from any empire of the seventeenth century, these factions will immediately begin to attempt to invade and control the island for themselves and expel their opponents and indigenous people from it.

You play as a normal human being who has recently arrived on the island and your role is to keep the peace between your empire on the island ruled by your cousin and other factions and this makes you deal directly with the colonists and indigenous people as well. Your main goal in coming to this island is to try to find a cure for the disease that has afflicted your home country. As mentioned above, Gredful is an action and role-playing game and we clearly see that The Witcher 3 was a major source of inspiration but it is AA and not huge so of course it will not be of the same quality.

The story of the game is really great. You are a Congregation of Merchants famous for their trade and will deal a lot with other factions called Theleme, a religious faction worshiping the god of light and there is the Bridge Alliance who are proud of the progress of science and there are indigenous people known as natives and they have a magical relationship with the land. During your game journey you will deal with all these factions, but for example, The Bridge Alliance or the Alliance of the bridge are at war with the indigenous people and with Theleme so you will have to make decisions that suit your opinion you, where when you stand with a platoon will improve your relationship with them, but when you do the opposite will hate you More. These factions felt like inspired by the real world and to me my relationship with the indigenous people was the best because I felt that their right was eaten.

If you play RPG from BioWare Studio you will notice the likeness of progress as well, you will spend a lot of your time in Greedfall as you go from place to place to talk and help people. You will travel back and forth between the three main cities on the island as well as many indigenous villages. Every time you do a task you will find several options for progress where you can sometimes bribe someone who stands on your way or fight or talk with him peacefully, but before entering this topic I want to talk about the characters that can accompany you and improve their relationship with you because this affects your progress a lot and adds Especially fun. Each time you do a task for a platoon, a character from that platoon may come with you to help you and over time your relationship with them will become better or worse, depending on your dealings with them and their requests.

For example, there is a character called Seora, this character is from the indigenous population and will help you a lot when dealing with her platoon where they will trust you more when they are present, at the same time when you go to a place that some people hate will defend themselves and you will see their reaction, and sometimes may prevent them From entering the royal palace because of dislike of that platoon to the indigenous people. Certainly this applies not only to Seura but to all other characters, so before each mission you will be able to change the characters that accompany you, other than this will help you during the battle and fight with you and use their skills and intelligence.

Speaking of skills, there are three different skill trees within Greedfall that allow you to create the style of play you want. There is a tree through which you can develop your skills with magic or close combat or traps and firearms.There is a tree for your personal non-fighting abilities such as your charisma, which helps you dialogues to solve problems in a peaceful way or science that enables you to make doses or locks. The third and final tree is related to your fighting skills where you can develop a skill that will enable you to use stronger and better swords or your magic power making your magic spells and strokes stronger and faster. In each tree there are at least four different things you can choose and develop, but all of this will make you create the style of play you want. For me, I chose magic and developed my magical skills as well as close combat with swords that require one hand. For skills I developed science to make magic doses and gravity to help me solve problems without resorting to fighting.

The gameplay is not excellent but good enough to feel fun.It is based on fast fighting and excitement, but you can use the "Tactical Stop" feature that will stop the game any moment you want and will enable you to change the system of killing you and learn more about the opponents as well as the use of doses in case you rely on them . As I mentioned earlier you can fight using magic or close combat using swords and kicks or by focusing too much on traps and firearms. In the game you will be able to dodge any strike directed at you which makes avoiding damage much easier but when you press the dodge button during your attack it will be invalidated, which you have to choose the right time to hit and dodge.

The game lacks the diversity of enemies where you will face soldiers or mercenaries inside the cities and creatures monsters outside, but after trying 17 hours I felt I was fighting the same enemies that faced in the first six hours. There are some special creatures and there are bosses but they are rare, but when you face a leader you will feel pleasure and adrenaline without a doubt. Diversity is what Greedfall lacks most in general and not just enemies. Everywhere you go you will see that the same optics have been used, especially in buildings because they are copied and pasted, but in different colors. The game, as I said, is not an open world, but in the form of provinces and spaces. Different but very much the same. But although the graphics and optics are similar, there are some places that will stand out from the others. The game, as I mentioned, is not AAA, so the development team is expected to sacrifice things to reach other goals.

One of the most bad things about the game is the animation of the faces, the movement of the mouth while talking is very mismatched and weird even for the main characters and you will need some hours to get used to it.There are a lot of repetitive faces that you will notice as you progress the game but as you said you will have to sacrifice to make a game Need at least 25-30 hours. But it is very surprising that the voice representation of all the characters was really wonderful, which offset this problem and with a lot of dialogues you will enjoy hearing the characters that speak, each character has its own voice and find thousands of texts and for this game play is available in English only.

This is the best part of Greedfall where there are no meaningless side tasks. Everything is related to the story and every decision you make will be remembered by the game and will remind you of its consequences at some point. Each character is well defined and evolves as you and every companion or character accompany you as they have their own deep and enjoyable background story. As I mentioned earlier, you will be able to solve everything from the way you talk.

In short, is the game worth the time and money? The only problem with Greedfall is that it is a long game but does not contain a large content that satisfies the players where as I mentioned above you will feel the repetition of faces, enemies and buildings in the early hours but the system of skills and abilities is very wonderful and fighting system is very good. The main reason you will buy the game is its great writing of tasks, story and characters, as well as the great and engaging audio performance, so I will say it is worth the time and money. But certainly the game is not perfect and lacks many things, but it offers a distinctive experience and listened to a lot, and if you are a fan of RPG style you will enjoy more and more. I think the road to success for Spiders Studio has now started after its previous failed attempts.

Greedfall offers a truly wonderful narrative experience and contains the most important factors that attract the role-playing lovers, especially the freedom to advance and choose the style of play, but lacks diversity, you will enjoy a lot of writers and a distinctive world that is different from other games of the same era and genre.
