Upcoming Massive "Fallout 3 Remake" Mod - Fallout 4: The Capital Wasteland

"They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard."

-Fantastic (Fallout: New Vegas)

When it comes to Fallout series, I see most people favored the previous titles, mostly the original Fallout, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 3 over Fallout 4 eventhough they enjoyed it as well. Which one is your favourite Fallout? If you are among those who loved Fallout 3, or just simply want to play Fallout 3 (again).. Or or! a big Fallout fan, this might be a good news for you thanks to the Road to Liberty modding team.

It's a mod, yes, your "daily dose of another mod for Fallout game", but not the average one. It's a Fallout 3 remake, and it doesn't called a "remake" for no reason. Watch the mod trailer that almost looked like an official game trailer, full with the memorable voice acting of Liam Neeson as James/Dad to get a clearer picture. Or it's more like a DLC trailer, perhaps?

This is a massive mod for Fallout 4 called Fallout 4: The Capital Wasteland that will take you back to Fallout 3 but in a more modern standard. What's in it? Well, pretty much what you'll get from a remake. In short, soon you can play an unnoficial Fallout 3 remastered edition.

From stuff as basic as weapons and armors, to dialogue, and the quests, this remake mod have them to bring the old Fallout 3 into the improved version. The mod detail goes as far (and maybe even further detailed) as the modification of Fallout 4's dialogue tree to the Fallout 3's style that you can see in one of the screenshots below. That of course, make you a silent protagonist.

However, it won't feature the extra locations from Fallout 3 DLCs, but it might change/added in the future. This mod is planned to be released as soon as possible, it seems, as the project lead NafNaf_95 stated that they can always polish (the mod) after the initial release "like early access games".

One of NafNaf_95's explainations in an interview video, shows that the process of this remake is one hell of a lot of work to do. Of course modding may be nowhere near as much work as actually developing a game from scratch, but for a small team consists of only about ten people doing a remake of Fallout 3, which is big, is a lot of work.

"..With quests, you place things in the world like.. you need to add markers and stuff within the world for everything to work properly."
"..We need to have at least the cell of the interior, all the right locations in the main Capital Wasteland, everything that has to be laid out, so the level designers have a hell of a lot to do before you can even consider start laying out quests."

However, for a small team they do shows that the progress is quite fast as they always post monthly updates here, the 2018 update is coming soon. Here's some screenshots of the works.

Megaton.

The change of style of the dialogue tree I mentioned, full with the exact same dialogue from Fallout 3. In the old gamelpay video there's still the Fallout 4's dialogue cutscene although the player is a silent progatonist. Probably not anymore in newer update.

The battle against the super mutants in the quest Following in His Footsteps.

With all these modders around, seems like these Bethesda games will likely stay alive for so long, don't you think? Even mods for the old gem The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is still lit on Nexusmods, let alone Fallout 4 which is not that old.

Thanks for stopping by, Steemian. If you like the post then be sure to leave your upvotes and resteem, I appreciate it. But if you dont, I'm going to kill you SO MUCH.

Buzzing for this. Pretty cool that the dialogue trees are all the same, was wondering what would happen there because obviously from 3 to 4 the whole way dialogue was dealt with was pretty different - glad this is how they're doing it.

That's one of the biggest let down for most people, I see, the "way too simple" dialogue wheel in Fallout 4. Sometimes modders give you the things that you wanted better than the developers themselves do, right?

Yeah for sure! And you were never sure exactly what your character would say - a bit like in Mass Effect, you could never be sure exactly what would come out of Shep's mouth!

Gonna be watching for this one!
