4 Great Games From 1997
"Alright, everyone, let's mosey."
-Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)
I wasn't really know if these games were released in that specific year and I decided to do some research for a reason. It wasn't so disappointing for me to find it out and so I decided to post it here for the same reason.
Well probably these games are not so "great" to some people, but let's just jump right into it. These are 4 games released in 1997, the games that started it all, the game that having a come back, and the game that is still played by many gamers to this day.
Age of Empires
The first time my dad introduced me to this game, Age of Empires was my first shit gaming experience-
..Wololo-
Age of Empires was my first great gaming experience, played on a PC as ancient as the time setting of the game itself. And now Age of Empires make its "come back" with the upcoming HD edition, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, that was supposed to be released on 19 October 2017 but delayed until early 2018.
Two days ago, 15 October 2017 marks 20 years since the original Age of Empires released back in 15 October 1997. You know, back in the day many of Ensemble Studios members were right out of the school and didn't have any experience in video game industry. Yet they were able to create one of the most influential game in RTS genre that has sold more than 15 million copies.
You see, if you willed it, you can do it.
Grand Theft Auto
The first game in its series that started all the stealing cars and shooting pedestrians for sport while following a storyline. While the next game, GTA 2 was like a better improved version of the first game, the original GTA still a great game to play back on its day.
Did you know that Grand Theft Auto was an accidentally-made game? It was called Race'n'Chase and was supposed to be a game where there were two choices of roles in which the player could choose to play either as cop or as a criminal, and then they would...well, either chasing the criminal or run away from the police chase.
The plan was changed because of the imbalance police AI that was unexpectedly too aggressive. So DMA Design (That is Rockstar North now) removed the option to play as police but kept that "error", the focus changed, and so was the name. Imagine if it was released as the original plan, Race'n'Chase. What would the GTA V that we know right now would be?
Fallout
Where your first adventure in a post-apocalyptic wasteland begin. While GTA games keep getting improvements that the first GTA is not placed on a high place on "Best to Worst GTA" list, the original Fallout is the other way around. The next Fallout games keep getting improvements, but the original Fallout is still ranked higher than the newer games.
As far as I know, many people who have played the entire Fallout series still love the original Fallout more and think it's better than the later games, especially Fallout 4. But hold on, I'm not judging them for saying so or anything.
A little fun fact about Fallout.. Dogmeat was never supposed to survive the game. The player had to do some very strange things to do so. That seems to be the way the designer preventing the player to keep Dogmeat alive to the end. But somehow people managed to get Dogmeat till the end, and that surprised the designer, Christopher Taylor.
Final Fantasy VII
By the time you read the title what crossed on your mind was probably that scene. That's right, that Sephiroth drop-kill scene. Wow, saying it that way instead of "Aeris' death scene" I feel somewhat like a douchebag.
And soon your spiky-haired protagonist Cloud Strife, will make a come back with the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake for PlayStation 4. This is a game worth anticipating but also a doubtful one to some, because not everyone sure that the modern remake of the game could bring all things that make it great in the old game.

Resteemed and upvoted. I am a manual curator and I personally think your post is undervalued.
Oh thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. It's great that Steemit have people like you
To think they're remaking ff7 and a new AoE is coming out. Those games were my choldhood and now adulthood soon.
I know right, AoE is what excite me the most. What does it called, is it "Blast from the past"?
Yep that's the phrase!
It's good all that games still exist as modern games ... well, it's time for a new Age of Empires.
EDIT: From wikipedia: On August 21, 2017, Microsoft announced Age of Empires IV, developed by Relic Entertainment
Oh wow I'm pretty sure this gonna be awesome, they are the ones who make Company of Heroes, right?
