"Ithaqa" Fundition Update #88 - The Art Evolves!

Illustration_Ideas_V2.jpg

So for this second round of art, I talked with Theresa about how I wanted to move away from a more natural look, in which all the characters were clearly occupying the same space. I wanted to take this in a more 70's movie poster kind of vibe - borderline James bond, and certainly as pulpy as we could make it. Here were some of the reference images I pulled ot help shift the course of the print:

Steemit is still mentioned heavily in my press releases, and I have many intervieews lined up, so hopefully, we can snag a few more steemers while I'm at it. I'm sure plenty of college students at an art school are gonna be excited to find out they can get PAID for their creativity :)

I really like it when the characters are posed with their head or torso twisted like the examples shown. It gives a sense of moving action that needs to resolve the shape. The chin angles also create a focus across the page, because the viewer wants to know what the person's face is looking at, even if the eyes are closed.

Great references to draw inspiration from.

Thanks man, and welcome back! I was afraid I'd lost you after my hiatus since you'd only just found our page.

Also I agree - I just couldn't have articulated it as well as you just did, haha. When they twist, they're like wound up springs, our mind is waiting for the tension to release.
