Ithaqa Graphic Novel Fundition Update 26 Our First Steemit Exclusive Reward!

Hazel_CMYK.jpg

Hey we're back, and I've got a beautiful print for you to enjoy! This piece was commissioned in order to reward all you amazing steemit users who have supported this comic and helped fund its production. So enjoy my friends, and by the end of this campaign, I will make some physical prints of this piece to send out to prominent steemit backers.

I can't speak highly enough about this print, you can tell Theresa, (@la-fumettista) got carried away and had a great time putting all this together. Of course we expect great detail from her, but I'm particularly impressed with the shading. She went a fair amount above and beyond the quality expected of her for this print, and that is a testament to her dedication to this world we've built over the last year. I also LOVE the work she did in the mirror, it's a sneak peak at later issues, and the slight difference in the greyscale works so well.

Tell me what you think of the print in the comments, I promise there's an upvote in it for you ;)

If you would like me to email you a high res version of the file in the meantime, log your email here:

If you've already done that in the past, no worries, I'll be sending the print out.

In regards to the comic book scripts I've been working on, Issue 3 is locked in, and according to my editor, very strong. That's a hell of a relief to hear to be honest, haha. Issue 4 was received by my editor about as well as I told you all to expect. The broad strokes and the structure are improvedt, but damn do I need to polish and refine. I don't mind though, I essentially rewrote the whole thing from scratch, and it would be wildly arrogant of me to think I 100% nailed it on the first try.

Today I find myself in the unpleasant situation of having to get back into a writing schedule after being gone for almost a week. Getting back into a rhythm is so hard, but I'm glad that my job is to edit, not to create from scratch. As Stephen King says, "It's easier to write when you've built yourself a runway."

Here is another page of issue 1!

Here is my daily reminder that you ran receive special rewards by backing different reward tiers (just like with Kickstarter) on our official fundition page: https://fundition.io/#!/@drwatson/t2b3d2ijh

And here are our Fundraising Rankings! When we get to $1,000 USD worth of steem, Theresa and I will be able to finish illustrating Issue 1, and release it to all our backers on steem! We're actually getting very close!

Most Votes Leader Board:

  1. @Katharsisdrill - 28 upvotes
  2. @katamori - 28 upvotes
  3. @Bryan-imhoff - 28 upvotes
  4. @steevc - 27 upvotes
  5. @enternamehere - 24 upvotes

Most SBD Value Contributed - The Council Of Five:

  1. @fundition - $809.87
  2. @kommienezuspadt - $50.89
  3. @Bryan-imhoff - $12.67 (voting rewards) + $26.79 (Pledge Rewards) = ~ $39.46
  4. @eeks - $39.61
  5. @Katharsisdrill - $7.44

Steemers who hold a position on the council will get to confer with Theresa and I on what the other bonus gifts to the steem community will be. If we decide to do bonus art, the council of 5 will get to have a say in what is depicted! When you back reward tiers in the campaign, that is added to your SBD ranking, so if you would like to be a part of the council of 5 putting 3-5SBD in would currently guarantee you a spot, while also netting you some exclusive rewards.

We have raised in the vicinity of 936 USD worth of steem, which means we are 93.6 +% of the way to our goal! Once we hit 1000 USD, it will guarantee that we release all of issue 1, for free to steemit! At 1,200 USD, I will be able pay my letterist Lucas as well.

We are almost there, and we are getting there so much faster than I expected! At this rate, it is basically guaranteed that the new pages for issue 1 will be fully financed by steem, what an amazing community!

There are certain drawings that are captured so well and in detail that you can kind of imagine yourself in it, I'm not sure if I'm making sense but this is one of those artworks! It looks so fine!

You're making sense! Glad you like it, feel free to download it! If you want a higher res copy you can log your email here:

Thank you so much for replying! I am a new artist myself, if you could kindly check the latest work I did and give me some suggestions, it would mean a lot to me!

I took a look at your page, and like what I see!

My advice for doing well on steemit is currently: perseverance and consistency. It takes a long time to build up a group of friends on this site, and whenever the price of steem goes down a lot of people go away for awhile.

Don't expect to make money, instead hope to join or build a community that will support your growth as an artist. I've been on steemit for over a year, and I'm only just now getting serious upvotes.

I'm gradually learning and will keep this in mind. Thank you!

The drawing is looking so real and original, the write up is also interesting. Thanks for sharing your achievements

Hey, glad to hear you are doing so good! It is very satisfying to see the hard work of individuals getting the success and support they deserve, without having to sell-off to some kind of publisher; I always have the "Alan Moore & DC" case in my mind about these things (here is a summary of it).

The picture is great too! Theresa is doing an excellent job, shading is good, indeed, but what captures my eye and fascinates me is the amount of details. The Priestess Tarot card on the wall (is she painting the Empress on the canvas?), the contents of the bookcase, the palm-reading frame (or is it a Hand-of-Glory?), the alchemical notes below the painting kit, etc. And of course, the Mirror -- I can see the forest and the church in there, amidst all the Outer-Godly string-symbols... So much occult references in one picture, thanks Theresa!

Glad you're back man! Haven't heard from you in awhile. Pecking away at the edits day by day, Issue 4 has been causing me a LOT of trouble, but the story is stronger than ever.

Good eye with the tarot imagery! She is painting The Empress on the canvas :)

Heh, not exactly back yet, but I'm trying to catch up with the steem-network; i've been through a job-transfer, a couple of very busy months at work, vacations, etc. I haven't gone through all the ITHAQA updates yet, I hope I have not missed the publication of issue #1, right?

As for #4, it's good to hear that there is a strong story even if there was trouble involved - no pain, no gain, after all. Can't wait to see the revised #1, and the rest of the story.

Don't worry you haven't missed the publication of issue 1, in fact this fund raiser is to pay for the new pages and letters for Issue 1 after the dramatic rewrites.

The script pages I have been uploading for the fundraiser illustrate some of the changes coming. basically on any given script page bold text = revised or new
