What is your car trouble?

I want to give back to Steemit community and provide some help on something that I know very well. Cars and how to fix them.

Engine.jpg

Please ask me about your car issue. Won't go into gear. Strange sounds. Don't know if you should take your car in to the shop. Just ask.

Send me the make, model, and year along with car symptoms.

Please remember to VOTE and ReSteem

El otro día la camioneta de mi tío encedia la luz del svs y tanto revisar resulto que era el cable de tierra del alternador.

Good thing you found that issue with the alternator ground. Bad grounds are tricky.

Hey Car Guy @socky ~ my girlfriend's 2017 Ford Escape Titanium keeps giving her the "tire pressure" symbol on the dash. Could this be a slow leak? Do you think she may need to get new tires? She has only put 7,000 miles on the car and bought it new. Couldn't find any punctures when examining. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It could be a leak. The wheels have sensors that are wireless. They save power by not transmitting until they sense a specific speed. They also don't constantly transmit. They can last a number of years, but they eventually will need to be replaced. They are often not very accurate.

First check the tire pressure. If the pressure is actually low, then fix the tire.

If you are running a tire pressure that is near the threshold that triggers the warning, then you might find the warning happens when it is cool, but doesn't happen when it is hot. Factor in that the pressure sensors are not that accurate and you can get false warnings.

If the tire pressure is not low, then you have two options.

  1. Have the tire taken off to replace the pressure sensor
  2. Wait until the tires need to be replaced to have both the tire and the sensor replaced. This will save you some money, but you will have to ignore the warning as long as you verified the tire pressure.

Great advice - your suggestions about my Toyota 4Runner (some months in the past) were also useful and appreciated. Thank you as always!

Glad to be of service :D
