FruitsAndVeggiesMonday - Ugly and tasty - medlar
Medlar is really ugly with its brown colored flabby fruit. Looks like a big brown rosehip. You can eat it only when inside is soft, otherwise it's very sour. Fruit has high vitamin C, vitamin B and E vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium, manganese and zinc content, plus plenty of pectin, which helps metabolism and maintain cholesterol levels. Seeds can also be used against kidney calculus.
I love this fruit, which is a good alternative of exotic fruits in winter.

Very fascinating my Dear, I have never seen this fruit. so I had to looked it up on Google to see it's origin and the Wiki says: true homeland [of Mespilus germanica] is only in the south-eastern part of the Balkan peninsula, in Asia Minor, on the Caucasus, Crimea, northern Iran and possibly also in Turkmenia.
Wonderful entry Dear @kalemandra, thank you so much for shraing this wonderful fruit with us 🍒 🍌🍑🌿🍍🍓
Well, this looks very exotic, but medlar trees also grow in Hungary. Ripening time is November-December. Inside is very delicious, also good for jam.

Oh, thank you! And thanks to @barbara-orenya as well for these cute wonkies! :)))
this fruit does not look very appetizing 😁
Really :))) But much more tasty!
Can this only be found in your area? I do not remember something like that here in the Philippines. I am pretty interested about the fruit because it contains a lot of vitamins.
Yes, medlar grows here in Hungary as well.
Intriguing! Ugliest fruit I had was Water Chestnut. But this is far ahead.
It sure is ugly. I have a problem sometimes of not eating something because of the way it looks. I do give in at times and try to taste it though.
Ugly but smells like pear, very tasty, sweet inside with a pulpy texture.
