What to Do, What to Do?
Gooddalg considered the fate of her best world, thinking the various experiments on it all went wrong, especially the latest. Wipe it clean and start over, she thought, although who knows what would take the place of the creatures she considered her best effort.
"They probably think that big blog of goo in their largest ocean is some kind of art installation."
Oh, what to do.
The first round of single-cells never got out of the water. The second experiment of super-sized blubber critters ate everything up in a week. The third round just stayed hidden in piles of garbage or under leaves. The fourth experiment hopped around a lot and never did much. And that left the fifth round: a group of wingless hominids who thought they could fly, dump a lot of plastic in the oceans, and, generally poop everywhere.
"I could always go back to the third group."
She tried that experiment after the large asteroid wiped out the blubber creatures. They were fast, sleek, ate all the garbage, and could live through acid rain. They just had one problem that bothered Gooddalg: they had no ambition. At least the hominids in fifth experiment tried to do things. Sure, their curiosity usually resulted in a radioactive mess, or a drought, or giant wind storms. But they did try. Plus, they were so imaginative with their pyramids, sand drawings, impressionistic oil paintings, and airplanes.
"I'll let them go for now." However, she made a note to get word down about cleaning up that big blog of goo.

Ahh, if at first we don't succeed, try, try again?
Nice! I like the whole scenario you've created in such a short time! The history of the world... what a fascinating thought that there were many efforts before the humans. I like how you think!
