Don't Speak

Denimae felt as though one more word or gesture from her indicating her disagreement, he would blow up at her. The public restaurant was moderately filled with a smattering of young professionals and surprisingly beautiful woman.

Denimae immediately tried to change the subject by pointing out a cab pulled over by the police outside the restaurant. Internally, she sufferes in silence as, yet again, her opinions on their family finances, his time out with friends, or when she can see her sister again irritate him. She let the mask go up and pretended she hadn't already sensed his ire. Didn't already know that this was coming.

"Did you see enough?" Her dark-haired sneering husband, Derrin's, voice dripped sarcasm.

Denimae stiffened and stopped drinking from her drink, slowly she set the glass on the tablecloth.
