Snake #Freewrite
The Kalenjin warriors made some war cries heading his way. Kakaya knew it was best that he hid his young bride. She was with child and rumours were flying around they were raping women regardless of their state.
It had only been three weeks since all of it started. The general elections results were being aired live as they came in and as usual the major tribes were at it. The Agikuyu people were claiming the elections were being rigged by the Kalenjin dictator. Post election violence broke out.
In a move to show the other tribes they meant business, the warriors had been tasked with the authority to evict forcefully if they saw it fit anyone who was not a Kalenjin from their strongholds by their tribesmen.
When his pregnant wife refused to let him leave her in hiding, they shoved themselves in thorn bushes to camouflage. The cries drew closer; feet thudding in a rhythmic manner. Kakaya could tell they were many and silently appreciated his wife's teary plea to stay with her.
The warriors slowed down after something moved in the same bush they were. It had completely ignored the two souls cuddling in fear in what was maybe its home and stealthily made its way towards the war cries. It's coloured scales glittered past the couple now fully aware of its presence.
One of the warriors saw it and let out a sharp cry. He went on to tell them to position themselves and die like men. Another suggested they can kill it for it's skin. If it doesn't kill us first, another said. As they deliberated way forward with a killer snake, the Kakayas crawled out of the bush with their lives.

Oh, the snake rescued them in a sense. So sad that all the real violence is happening all over - and all the time. We need more snakes to scare the aggressors away!
