Forty-four
Forty-four minutes ago Gifford said "I love you" to Neely. Forty-five minutes ago he picked up a megaphone. Forty-three minutes ago an entire stadium full of people watched her face on the jumbotron, eagerly awaiting her to respond eagerly to him with a "yes" to the words that followed "I love you." Forty-two minutes ago she disappointed about a quarter of the population of the United States, not to mention Gifford, who had assured the producers that her "yes" was certain. She had assured Gifford her "yes" was certain. Forty-one minutes ago she sat in utter shock at herself, the shock on Gifford's face a mirror to hers. Forty minutes ago the display cut off them, the camera operators sure they would catch slack for staying on the unhappy couple as long as they did after the fateful moment.
