Hippo

My nieces lovey is a hippo
A purple hippo named Peppo
Peppo is 9 years old soon,
he’s not so purple anymore
but he’s still a hippo.

I love hippos even though apparently they are quite violent and dangerous to humans.
I think it’s sweet in a naive sort of way
That we have baby-i-fied hippos
Even though they are huge & hard
we have turned them into something soft
and small
and fluffy, on infant hats or blankies
Or all on their own
Snuggly snuggling
Hippos
