Prompt --> Bulb

Vini waited for Lara to arrive. Her best friend of 23 years sounded so excited over the phone. She had some news to share and was ready to spill everything over the phone on her way over. But one of Vini's pet peeves was distraction while driving. So, she told Lara firmly that she will contain her excitement and wait for Lara to share the good news in person.

Lara rang the doorbell like she could win a prize for the number of rings she got through in a minute. Vini and Lara were absolute opposites. Lara was hypersensitive, funny, wild and generous. Vini on the other hand was calm, reserved, sceptical and opinionated. Opposites attract couldn't be truer.

As soon as Lara got in, she started talking about a chance meeting she had and the opportunity to start an online business. She couldn't contain herself, talking over herself, getting distracted with other bits of the meeting to make a point but only confusing timelines and details. But it didn't matter, her enthusiasm made up for her scattered story.

She saved the best for last, she wanted to start the business with Vini. Vini knew this was coming because Lara always included her in everything. But they had been down this road once before and it turned out a disaster. They made great friends, but bad business partners. And after a huge argument over a simple choice of colour, because of the tension that had been building up, the business died a natural death as communication between the two came to a halt. It took them more than 6 months to get back to being inseparable.

Vini knew, she, for the sake of their friendship, had to turn her best friend down. Sure, she would be disappointed but Vini really didn't want to go through another episode, for fear that the friendship would not withstand a repeat. The last one was really bad.

As Lara, continued to convince her that this time it would be different, Vini stared at the tulip bulb on the bouquet she was arranging.

"Vini!! Are you listening? It is going to be great. You are so good with your hands. Look at this bouquet. It's beautiful. And I'll do the rest, the marketing - it would be like old times."

That last line was the clincher. For just a while there was a part of her that was considering, but she knew she had to be the practical one or that dotted line might come in between them. Vini had to choose Friendship over Business.

All of my friendships turned business have turned into rotten experiences. Yes, choose friendship.

Thanks. Here is today's #freewrite prompt: Day 308: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: mask

Yeah, better to keep them separated :)
Thank you for the prompt @wordymouth

That sounds quite 'normal'... friends sometimes, most times actually... don't make good work partners... :)

Yup and still we try haha
Some of us need to learn through our own mistakes, not someone else's haha
Yes, I've been there
Thank you @ackhoo 😊
