RE: The importance of voting and percentages: Musings on the Steem blockchain.

Totally agree with your sentiments @geekpowered.

If steem is to function as a true social network where content gets a value based on the wisdom of crowds or as the steem white paper calls it, "Proof of Brain", the we need more users who are engaged and have a meaningful vote.

Some of that can be solved by the price of STEEM rising, making everyone's vote worth more.

But more importantly, we need more steem power in the hands of the masses. Which is why I really respect @fulltimegeek's approach of spreading votes to a whole range of people.

I have tried to contribute too by using the #upvoteplankton tag to help plankton identify themselves and allow other users to find those accounts and give them a vote. It may not be a lot, but if a small vote is enough to sway one user from quitting the platform, than it has been worthwhile.

I like the way he chose to do his bot army...but I still prefer individuals making conscious decisions on what to upvote on.

It might be cool if he had chosen to put a certain percentage of the votes to follow the upvotes of the members, randomly, with higher percentage chance if more of the members chose to upvote the post or comment.

I do quite a number of things to try to find good posts by smaller users, such as following smaller curation groups like @c-squared and intro resteemer @welcoming. Reading a ton of intro posts can get tiring, but when I do read them, I like to give them a little upvote and welcome to the Steem blockchain.
