Sun set on her last chance for happiness. It just set. Just like that. No warning except the usual darkening of the sky, the bright pink and orange replacing the sky blue of a blue sky. Then fading into inky darkness. And then... it set. It just set. It set. And now there's no morning coming. She had an opportunity that day to find a last moment of joy, but when the sun set, it was no longer possible. They came for her when the sun set. It wasn't that the sun had set, but rather that it was 6pm. They came and got her as she was leaving work. Leaving late because she was still holding onto the possibility that they'd call back. They were going to call back either way. But it would be too late tomorrow. So they came and got her. She had her headphones on. She was trying to distract herself with ridiculous YouTube videos. She was hoping that things wouldn't go as she had been told they would go. All the details were fuzzy, but the phone call that didn't come would have let her find happiness. Instead, she went to prison and everyone forgot about her. Eventually she died, and there's no happiness after you die. She got what she came for, a life, but she left without it. We all leave without it. We can't seem to hang onto what we value most.
