Basic needs (freewrite)
She sank her teeth into the edge of the pencil, thinking, feeling, swearing that she would not allow herself to write down one more word, not even if it meant starving. She wasn't good at this at all, as Lauren always told her.
This is why you forget the milk and have to go to the store five times.
Of course, that had been before. Lauren would never say that now...
She never did grocery lists simply 'cause she wasn't in the habit of writing down what she needed. She liked to keep that information locked up in her mind and, she now supposed that was her greatest flaw.

Her left hand ached to put pen to paper and write those four letters, but she could not.
She had to stay strong. There was no need of writing it down, not when it was in her head. But she could feel the words in her mind becoming an exotic jungle and ramming themselves against the soft spots of her mind, looking to break loose.
It wouldn't be long now and yet she sat and stared at the piece of paper, in the pink n white notebook that Lauren had bought for her.
She grasped the pencil so tight that it hurt her frail bones and shut her eyes, to keep the tears, as well as the words, well inside.
She was forgetting now.
Soon, his name would be gone forever.
We don't need nobody, baby, just us.
But the us that had once been was gone now. And she, the single pillar holding their memory together was fading into a sea of forgetfulness.

I have started reading a few more of these free write entrys. Your mind must be twirling all of the time. :) I enjoyed this short story and may attempt one myself some day.
