Freewrite: 118, lace
I'm feeling an addiction to @mariannewest's freewriting community! I am making a public promise to write something more cheerful tomorrow. I really am a joyful person, but seem to be inspired to explore darker themes lately. Thank you for the cheerful graphic!
LACE
The pliers found in the trunk did the trick. Who knew a cactus needle jammed into the rubbery flesh of a sandal could be so stubborn? She felt so naive to think her choice of footwear would not be an issue, but she was grateful to have found both flip-flops before heading toward town.
Blushing just thinking about it, she reflected on the remnants of her dress, the tally-mark-like slashes on her ankle, her missing belt. I was exhausted and I couldn’t help but nod off, she convinced herself.
When the limo driver approached and then slowed to a stop, she hesitated. There were no passengers, and so she felt a sense of awkward relief as she slid into the front passenger seat. Squeezing her eyes shut, she let out an audible sigh. Gently she touched her bleeding chin and relaxed her bruised shoulders. A new, truthy story was crafted in her mind. Her eyes opened, ready to look beyond what was, or even the now, until she recognized the decoration hanging from the rearview mirror: a scrap of lace from her dress.

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH... what a tantalizing ending! Intriguing! I love this!
Also, today I am helping the freewriters by delivering today’s prompt: Fried Chicken
@byn
Thanks! And thanks!
dark, but one that relies on a reader unpacking images and filling in the lines. My favorite writers are those who give just enough details for an engaged reader to string together the story - this, my friend, is a perfect example.
Thank you so much for sharing this harrowing tale, @eyedreemit, the removing of the blindfold is always my favorite way to experience the unexpected. ^_^
Thank you so much, @carmalain7 - Your opinion means a lot to me.
I just read this Yoko Ono interview which references the concept of leaving things, music in her case, unfinished for others to make their own. That, combined with your comments, has got my thinking and scheming...

In reading Yoko's interview, it also seems like she is juggling so much and I can't imagine that gets any easier as you get older. A lot of respect for all she does to create and support positive energy and movements in the world.
This is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and I too go from one spectrum to the other in freewrites.......right now mine have been pretty deep......so hoping mine too will produce a childrens story again soon lolll
This is a bit out of order! You can't leave it dangling like this!
