Springtime Resting
Water crystallized in her hair the day the world turned to ice.
She wrapped herself up in her cloak and hid behind castle walls where she knew she would be safe. The birds flew as far south as they could before fluffing their feathers up in the trees, and the rabbits all huddled underground.
The ice world was cold, but like the structure of the castle designed as a snowflake it made perfect sense. She walked up and down hallways so her blood would stay flowing to keep her warm, and at night she slept with two fires and five blankets.
It's only just for now, she thought every night when she went to bed and every morning when she arose.
She knew that somewhere inside of her she would be able to find the spring.
