Kendos lesson

He was nervous. That's a good thing. After all these hunts, he still is on edge. Some hunters lose that and relax. They forget to be cautious and miss something and then they end up as prey themselves.

"Not me," Kendo thought when pointing his flashlight into every corner of the old building.

Sensors showed there are five of them inside. It's an old abandoned orphanage and surely has plenty of places to hide. Kendo and his teammates Rosi and Oringa decided to take the west wing first. They split up as usually to force them into moving and leaving their cover.

There, a crack, something cracked. Kendo looks up and it seems as if somebody was right above him in the upper floor. Is it Rosi, who went upstairs or is it one of them?

Kendo points the flashlight to the ceiling. If it was one of them, the blue light should have knocked it out by now. The ray goes easily through thin walls and floors. But he hears nothing falling on the floor. Maybe it was the wind.

Then suddenly a loud crack. The ceiling breaks and a square meter of ceiling falls down! Kendo can barely jump aside. Dust everywhere and he can't see what is going on. He drops the flashlight and it rolls away.

It's one of them, wrapped in tinfoil so it's immune to the rays.

"Damn, it's a trap!" is Kendos only thought. He jumps up and starts running. He shouts: "Out! Everyone out!"

But it's too late. Two others both in tinfoil are standing in the hallway, barring him from getting out.

"Rosi!" he shouts, "Oringa, trouble!"

They got him! They know it and they smile with their sharp teeth shining through even in the darkness. Kendo is completely helpless, tries to escape through a door. It's locked, he bangs on it, tries to brake through. It doesn't work and they slowly come closer..

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Two flash grendades fall down through the hole in the ceiling and Rosi jumps down. From the other end Oringa comes to the rescue.

They have no chance now and it's a quick process with them being surrounded.

"Huh, was that fear that I've heard when you shouted my name?" Rosi asks Kendo with a smile.

"Hehe, no just a professional reaction for a tactical change..." Kendo gives back predending he hasn't lost his cool.

"You know," says Oringa, "it's a dangerous job. You are now in our team for some time and you learned how to hunt. But this," he points to the hole in the ceiling, "can happen and you seem a bit too relaxed in this job and that's the wrong attitude."

"Yeah, I know," Kendo answeres, "I am sorry..."

Kendo interrupts him: "Just never forget to be always cautious for everything. You know this is necessary."

"Yes, Sir," says Kendo looking to the floor.

"And one last thing," Oringa insists, "maybe it was too early to allow you civilian clothing during these raids. For the time being, you will wear your uniform again and now say thanks to Rosi, she saved you from being eaten."

"Yes, Sir," Kendo turns to Rosi, "Thanks, Rosi."

"You're welcome," Rosi answeres and smiling at him, "but only if you save me the next time."
