Day 8 Prompt: Home Alone - 200 day selfie freewrite contest
Home Alone? Hooray! I am FREE but behind bars

Oh No, this is not the first time I am along at home. In fact, it is quite often as I am a retiree and spend most of my time in front of the laptop to do steemit. My sons and my wife went to the office to work. Many of my same age friends who are not doing any computer related work, spend most of their time watching TV or youtube movie. While some of them hand around with friends in a coffee shop.
Is it good to be along at home? Maybe once a while as you can do anything you like to be alone. Of course, I meant a decent thing. But why not do something naughty once a while. Ha..ha..
On a serious note, I spend quite long time ( Maybe too long) in steemit as I like to blog my lifestyle on a blog which I can refer to and showcase to my friend and relatives. At the same time, I can earn some income as my pocket money if I ever cash out though.
While I am at home alone, I can think better as there is no interruption from anyone. ( Some of you may agree with me or have a similar opinion ). However, you may find certainly lonely once a while but that is normal nevertheless. Once you start to blog, Iyou tend to focus so much you do not realize anyone around me. So there is no difference really whether you are alone or not.
On the other hand, it is not a good scenario if you are always along at home. You need to have someone around you. So, get out from the house and socialize with friends, go to a shopping mall and look see and window shopping. Afterall, life is about everything
Cheers

I love my alone time. I think you have the right idea too. It is a perfect time to write without distractions.
I am glad you are taking up some enjoyable activity in your retirement.
Good luck with the contest.
thanks for dropping by my post. Yes, to be alone is sometimes fulfill our needs. One would have their own preference for their retirement, but I choose to develop mobile app and blog in steemit as well as share my steemit knowledge with newbies ( I am also a newbie, by the way). I find it by helping a newbie from the unknown to known is an achievement. That's why I still stick to a couple of discord.
I will try to stick to the daily schedule for this freewrite contest. I am getting a hang of it already
Thanks for your well wished. Wish you all the best in the contest too
Cheers
wow didn't know you are retiree.
Well done, my dad dont know everyday do what at home =.=
ha..ha.. not even a retiree, but also a "warga mas" with 50% discount on public transport like KTM, LRT, MRT, ETS but not air ticket
Go and ask your dad what he does every day. Introduce him to Steemit. I can guide him since we are in the same generation.
Cheers
Is your children in steemit too?
Ops sorry, I have missed out on this comment.
Nope, they are not interested in blogging.
cheers

A nice post I like being alone at times, we all need that break, but we also need that break from being alone, so family time is important, and outside activity time is important.
Thanks for dropping by this post. You are right. I is important to balance our time with various aspect.
For me as a retiree I am alone at home during office hours so it is my challenge to balance it.
Cheers
It is tough adjusting to retired life. I myself have been retired for almost 5 years. Still adjusting some, but also still having fun.
It is quite true to adjust from 9 to 5 working hour to no working hour. Firstly the sleeping hour both go to bed and wake up in the morning will be adjusted ( for the later on both ). Then the regular faces in the office are certainly disappeared.
For me, I could adjust quite easily though because I used laptop quite often during employment and still use the laptop very often after retirement.
Except for the sleeping time which is true as mentioned in the former scenario. Buth then, sleeping and wake up time is a discipline and habit and has nothing to do whether you are under employment or retirement
Cheers

My dad is in his 70s - can you teach him please? He is playing with a program that lets you play along like you're investing in the stock market in real time but with fake money. I think its a waste of time since he doesn't have any to invest in when the program ends, lol. Steemit would be so much more productive but he isn't taking advice from his daughters these days....
My oldest student in Mobile app development is 72.
The important factor is whether he is interested
Cheers
@madpotters, I think I know those online stock trading simulation software. I am 66 years and maybe I can shade some steemit pollen to your dad.
Cheers
That would be great! I told him to sign up and as soon as he's all set up I'm going to put him in touch with you here.
@madpotters I am honored to have the trust from you. Certainly, I can guide your dad on one to one basis.
On the signup, it takes several weeks to get approved in Malaysia. Your dad may lose interest by then.
May I suggest you invite him to join by delegating 15 SP to get an account approved immediately. You need to go to https://steeminvite.com/ to do it. The produced is quite simple.
Let me know if I can be any help
Cheers
I had no idea you could do that! That would show him I'm investing in him to at least give it a whirl. I'll see if he's taken my suggestion and tried to sign up on his own first. It took me about 2 weeks to get approved as well. Thank you, I'll let you know!
Good idea, let him take the initiate to sign up on his own
Cheers
Hey there! These days, I cherish those "alone" times, as I dont get very many! My wonderful mother lives here (whos also into Steemit), and my beautiful 3 year old daughter, of course. Then theres my awesome husband. He works hard during the day, sometimes into the night on some days. Theres ALWAYS someone around! lol But I just think that I better not take it for granted and enjoy the company! Ill miss it when my little one has grown up and the last place she wants to be is around me! And momma, as sad as the thought is, wont always be here.
Enjoy your alone times, my friend, but cherish those moments when youre together the most! Great post! :)
Hi @smylie2005, glad to see you dropped by this post. You are right, we cannot take things for granted for what we have. We should maximize our time with our love ones whenever we can. When our kids start to grow up, they will have their own world and preferences.
I didn't expect my short 5 minutes free write touches teal life of some of the my friends. Anyway, let the nature takes it's pace
Cheers
In my home it is almost impossible to be alone, so when I am I don't even use that time to clean. I do all that I can when I normally can't. Alone time is great. I miss it.
Yet even though I have all my kids and my husband is home then at work, I still feel alone as I don't have many people that come to visit or have the time to visit. Tis life :)
Hi @foxyspirit. I am pleased you dropped by this post. It is true for some ( like you ), there 8s no chance to be alone at home due to family members around. Loneliness sets in once a while though physically there are people around you. For today's social technology' we could chat with someone if we need to.
Btw, this post is meant for my 5 minutes free write contest and not a real life scenario
Cheers
Even though it is not a real life scenario, it is true for some. So you did some great writing ^_^
You got the point. I agree with you fully. Cheers
Lonely is not good but sometimes alone time can be great...
Sometimes all you want or need is a little peace and quiet in order to get things done. It does us good sometimes o be alone with our thoughts too, it can help to put our lives, hopes and dreams into perspective.
I am happy for you that you discovered this wonderful community and this amazing blockchain. As you said many retirees are just sitting around watching TV and letting the world pass them by. We have a special world all of our own right here where we may be alone but we are never lonely.
The very best wishes to you my friend I hope your journey is amazing :D
Thanks for dropping by my post and leave a comment.
I am in total agreement with you loneliness and being alone is somewhat different. I think loneliness is emotion and being alone just physical. Someone can be lonely even there are people around especially emotionally being disturbed.
Anyway, let's make use of our time to socialise and not be lonely.
Cheers
@stevenwood you know what, you mentioned the word lonely and alone time somehow keep coming to my mind. I was having brunch with one of my friends and I brought up this post . 8 actually explained and share my understanding of loneliness and being alone.
I have brought the casual 5 minutes free write to real life discussion.
Cheers
