Day 1 Prompt : Banana - 200 day freewrite contest prize 25sbd and a chance to win sbi
**Most of you eat banana, but how many of you have seen or get a chance to selfish a banana plant? **
Banana is one of the most common fruit on earth and goodness it is available almost anywhere that sells fruit. And it is relative cheaper compared to other types of fruits in my beautiful country, Malaysia.
How many type of banana are there? To quote a few in bahasa Malaysia : there are
- pisang mas,
- pisang tali,
- pisang tanduh,
- pisang gajah
-.others
Oh. there are many and with different color, size and shape. All of them has its unique name (at least in Malaysia).
What? Different color? No kidding, the most common color is green, when it is still on the tree and not ripe yet. But turn yellow when it is ripe and ready to be eaten.
But they are green color banana and it is ready to be eaten? Yes, plenty of them. How about brownish in color? Oh no, it cannot be eaten just peel off the skin but to steam cook it before you can eat it.
In Malaysia roadside stall, banana is one most common snack that many people like it. It is called the friend banana. Don't get me wrong, it is not to fry the whole banana but to slice it thin pieces and soak it into ready made flour mixture and fry it.
Since it is slice into small pieces, the finished fried banana is relatively small piece of "cake". And you eat a few pieces to satisfy your taste bud.
I wish I could go to stall to snap some photo of those I have described but I do not have the time. So you need to imaging how it look like
For for the leave from the banana plant, it iscommonly use to wrap nasi lemak a local food which is small quantities of rice with sambal ( chilli paste) . The full size banana leave also commonly used to to serve "banana leaf rice" for which a full size banana leave is placed on a dinning table, and you scoop some rice, and other dish on the leave.

I think everyone likes bananas. I have heard of deep fried banana, but have yet to try it. My favorite way to eat banana other than just eat one, is to slice it and make a peanut butter and banana sandwich.
Oh... the way you eat is something new to me. Each with ice cream is another way though
For fried banana the secret maybe is with the flour mixture.

the Banana plant is so resourceful! I like to fry up plantains, Puerto Rican style - once to soften them up and then they get squished under something heavy and then back into the pan again to crisp up a bit more. Ill have to try coating them in flour next time for a different texture!
thanks for dropping by my post. I am pleased to see you given such a valuable input your way for cooking it. I normally take it after peeling off the skin and take the friend banana once a while only ( after peeling off the flour ) because it is too oily.
