My Over 20 5 Minute Freewrite Post

in #freewrite8 years ago (edited)

Here is a selection of some of my 65 plus freewrites that many of you never saw.

1 - A Purple Squirrel
This is a story of grifting and betrayal

2 - Red
This story demonstrates the power of Imagination

3 - Itching
It's all in the name! This story is about perseverance and overcoming stereotypes.

4 - A Shoe
This was one of the first episodes of my in your face corny humor with a moral twist.

5 - It's what I do at 2:30 in the morning when I can't sleep (Part 1)
This is probably the most well known of my freewrite stories and this was the prompt that launched an entire series. I managed the difficult task of incorporating each day's prompt into the storyline, never knowing myself from one day to the next what direction the story would take next. If you want a challenge, then as some of the other freewriters that have attempted this will likely attest to, this is a big one.

This was originally written as a stand-alone freewrite, but if you want to read the entire Short Story that sprung out of that beginning;
Part 2 Ooze
Part 3 Great-Grandpa's Nose
Part 4 A Special Occasion
Part 5 Scream
Part 6 Hair
Part 7 Big Wave
Part 8 Bittersweet The End!

Bonus:
Here is a story that I wrote soon after becoming active on Steemit and before I ever started freewriting, it was one of those things that just happened and I was pleased with how it came together.

Truth and Consequences
(A Short Story written during the remnants of hurricane Irma)

**Disclaimer: I often use the freewrite prompt to tell a story instead of doing a pure freewrite, so they sometimes take longer than 5 minutes and usually have some editing. But I try to do my story straight through at one sitting without any unnecessary breaks.

Congrats on your sticktoitiveness!

You too, I didn't realize how many freewrites that you have done, that's awesome! 🙂

First, I wanted to let you know that when I clicked on A Shoe, there wasn't a freewrite. Darn! I really wanted to read it.
I loved your series. You had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't wait to read the continuation. It was a fantastic read! And your humor...OMG...you had me ROFLMAO many times. And I will always treasure "our" pill freewrite. Thanks for making that so much fun for me. I am looking forward to your stories during Part 2 of your journey. Please keep me on the edge of my seat and continue the laughter @deaconlee! Hugs! : ) : ) : )

Thanks for letting me know about the link, I'll see if I can fix that. I am humbled by your kind words of encouragement, I have enjoyed working with you and everyone here more than anything that I've done in a long time, and I'm really excited about the future for this group! I'm sure we will have many opportunities to collaborate in the future, I love to do that, but the impromptu one with you was a blast!
