The eleventh of November, a day to remember.
Many lost their lives, protecting troop members.
Our grandparents fought, for freedom and peace.
Many only found, life’s bitter release.
Today I feel low, it seems only fitting.
Honouring those who, had no choice in quitting.
Both sides fought, for what they believed in.
Some only found, their leaders deceived them.
I bite my tongue, ignoring what I believe.
Honouring the dead, even who’s lives were deceived.

I resonate deeply with your words. Do you ever listen to podcasts? I just listened to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. He dives deep and the latest I listened to was on the World Wars - how we got there and what it did to us. It is a commitment - it was probably close to 30 hours of listening - but so worth it!!
Podcasts not to often only conspiracy theory ones really.... I imagine it would take an extremely long one to cover the wars but 30 hours does seem excessive lol maybe I’ll see if I can download it on my phone and listen at work 😉 only semi down time I have is while working if that makes any sense

Yes. It is long but I stop and go with it. He is super engaging and not dry at all. I always listen why I do some work that doesn't require all my concentration... If you do listen, let me know what you think, please 👍
Alright so no idea what podcasts I listened to of his but man does he really dive deep into the details... I really like his perspective and how he brings in authors to help illustrate the views, definitely going to look into his other works and see if I can find the longer podcasts he does.

Yes!! He is easy to listen to and I love the way he connects events in plain language. If you download Overcast (the free version) as your podcatcher - it is much easier to find podcasts. The Apple podcast app sucks since they changed it about a year ago. I am a hardcore podcaster and podcast listener and I can't find anything there...
Well I’ve downloaded what I could find with the Apple podcast app.... they are all hour episodes but it will be a good start anyways. Charging my wireless headphones now so I can listen today at work 👍

Imagine so many lives have lost in wars and we can wonder if those people didn't die then maybe in some of their offsprings will arise one that could have changed the history of humanity for the better @d00k13 so I just oppose wars, it is hell.
I totally think the same way, so many people have lost their lives and many of them very well could have been the new age Nikolai Tesla. Sadly fighting is second nature to human kind making it so war is a natural part of our society.
I personally believe all new age wars follow some alternate agenda such as the Iraq war. So many little details point to the CIA knowing and protecting the whereabouts of Bin Ladin from the news reporter doing an interview while he was in “hiding” to the fact they supposedly lost his body!?!

That’s my own spin on the Canadian 11th of November Remembrance Day celebrations, choosing to remember that both sides of the war were met with tragedy fighting for what they believed in.

I appreciate your honor of those that have fallen but today is really to honor those that are living. Its veterans day not memorial day. I have to remind even soldiers of that fact from time to time. I do a lot of military ceremonies as a soldier musician and recently we did one where they wanted to have taps played at a veterans day event. I told them straight up that that would not be appropriate because this day is not to honor those that have fallen but to honor those that are still living. Thank you for your support and hope I didn't upset you by my statement.

And I completely get that. Before I served I never would have thought about it either. I think it's a psychological association we have placed on the idea of honoring soldiers. We want honor our troops and we always think of those that have passed away first.

Yea I believe it’s because we started as a common wealth state, so I bet you the American holidays being different has to do with the US founding separate from common wealth, all sorts of little differences I have found relate to that including measurements and spelling...
I like the idea of having that extra holiday and how it separates the living from the deceased, more onus on celebrating living veterans directly not just thinking of those we have lost.
