Canadian winters can bring many problems not foreseen till it’s to late. It hits suddenly, often one day is nice and sunny and immediately the next we have frost covering the ground. From things like plants getting a chill that should not all the way to slippery stairs, being aware of the weather and preparing for it may help keep you on schedule.
When I think of winter it’s always about driving, I love this season yet it comes with its own complications. Always remember for every complication there is a solution say you prepare ever so slightly for it.
Frost on the car making it so you cannot unlock the door or crank the window down, quick solution is a bucket of hot salty water the better solution is a small heater left on in the car with low settings overnight.
Go to start the car only to find it won’t quite turn over, you didn’t leave the lights on so what’s going on it has started just fine for months. The one complication that always seems to catch people off guard is a dead battery. You need a good battery to endure the Canadian winters, excess of cold cranking amps. There is no quick solution for this one, you must have your battery tested before getting to this season. A sudden cold snap will quickly bring a tiring battery’s cranking ability below the requirements to start the car.
My suggestion if your in Canada or anywhere else with extreme cold heading for winter, purchase the best battery you can. It’s the one thing I splurge on with all my vehicles and I have never been caught off guard, those extra cranks pay off year after year!

I just replaced the battery in our car about a month ago. I went ahead and opted for the one with more cold crank. Last winter I broke the window motor when trying to roll down the window while it was frozen. The cold does seem to complicate the simple things. You are so true.
More cold cranking amps’s is definitely the way to go, must’ve been a really cold winter last year to have broke the motor?

It did get very cold last winter. It hasn't been that cold yet this year which figures being the first winter my car is in a garage with some heat. But I'm ok with it not getting frigid. Not complaining. I agree, gotta keep the head, feet, and hand warm and things can be pleasant sometimes.
Yea this year has been weird for us also, cold one week then warmish the next.
Least your prepared this year for any sudden temp changes and snow drops, must be nice having a heated garage... I so wish!

No it’s a pain but I enjoy driving in it once the car warms up 😅 your very lucky where I live is considered temperate for Canada though not like up north.

This is long term, until you cancel your delegation. We would like to keep things consistent as much as possible, as we always have been, although we can't guarantee there won't be any slight change in the future.
