"White Cat" #freewrite
20171103_151722.jpg

The white cat slinks on feet soft as fog
Down the garden path, over the log
Slipping between shadows like a ray of light
A cerscent moon grinning above the night.

White rabbits are known to tempt you
Into diving down holes
Whereas wraithlike stray cats
Cavort with mice and voles

Which will she bring tonight trapped in her jaws?
A dead one or a live one to bat with her paws?

White cat, your fur glowing like alabaster
Stretched out in the sun disappearing against the plaster
I may be your familiar
Never your master.

Included is a quick watercolor sketch of dear departed Cat Toby I did several years back.

I really enjoyed your poem and the sketch of Toby. Tip!

Thank you so much for the tip and the comment :)

What a lovely picture and poem! May I use "feet soft as fog" for a future prompt?

Certainly, although true credit goes to Carl Sandburg's poem, "Fog":

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

by Carl Sandburg

That is a lovely poem - but you said it differently and I love it!!

Relative to its body size, the clouded leopard has the biggest canines of all animals’ canines. Its dagger-like teeth can be as long as 1.8 inches (4.5 cm).

Thanks, catfacts
