Day 127: 5 Minute Freewrite: Friday - Prompt: sunburn

The life and death of Jimbo

The life of bread is a simple life but they all fall to the same brutal and timely death. This particular piece of bread was named Jimbo. He lived packaged up with his family in what the humans called the supermarket (they called it bread paradise). It was their safe place - for now. One day out of the blue one of the human grabbed Jimbo and his family and tossed them into their trolley and took them home. This time was coming and death was approaching - and what could they do? They were just pieces of bread.. just food to these crazy humans. The lucky bread died a simple life - made into sandwiches and eaten up. However when Jimbo heard the word toast he freaked out. These humans had a thing called a ‘toaster’ but to him it was just a giant sun bed. Sometimes it wasnt so bad but sometime they would get sunburnt. Sometimes they would be left in there and forgotten about until there was smoke and fire, the bread no longer able to be recognised. Jimbo was placed in the toaster and cooked well beyond his liking. The humans then smothered butter all over him (this did help his sunburn!) and then peanut butter. This was it his time was up. The human ate him up. This is the sad life of a piece of bread
