LIVE!!! Freewrite at Open Mic Night! (My First Time w/Improv Storytelling)
I have been toying with the idea of doing a “Live” freewrite. I guess I shouldn’t put quotations around the Live, but around the “freewrite” instead, since technically I was speaking instead of writing.
Anyway, I digress. Last night I went to one of the weekly open mic nights at a local coffeehouse. I decided that it was the night. I was ready. I was there with my daughter @abyni who always opens the night with her ukulele or guitar music and singing with her beyond gorgeous voice and the guy in charge brought the list over for her to sign up. He was surprised when I grabbed the list and said, “Ah, I knew you were the one that got her into this stuff!”
When it was just about to be my turn, I had a sudden bout of nerves. What the hell was I thinking? This was going to be SO much harder than a freewrite! I would have to actually See people’s faces while I was creating a story out of thin air! Would that be overly distracting? What if I saw a look of boredom? Or disgust? Or…
My mind was slapping me a little silly over it, but then I decided that it was too late now and even if I failed, it was good… because I’d done what I set out to do.
Thankfully, I’m far more comfortable on stage in front of people than I ever am in a room with people!

I can, although I'd rather you just link to the post. I'm having issues even using YouTube because they completely deleted one of my (kid friendly!) channels and I'm somewhat beyond upset about it!

This is true improvisation - brilliant. I admire your courage. I had recently allowed myself to consider a podcast, and even that is putting myself out there more than I normally do. And that's just voice. Thanks for the inspiration.
