Perfect Present
My fourth cousin’s uncle’s brother is the consummate purveyor of trash. I think it’s because he lives in the loft of the museum’s grounds keeper’s shed. At the wise old age of three, he had dedicated himself to scavenging the oddest things from the dumpsters and sharing them with his favorite “little bushies” (I’m eight months old and he still calls me that). I don’t complain, it’s a little embarrassing but mostly, I find his nickname for us sweet.
He likes to scurry over three times a day. Each foray for the oddest looking things always told later to as if he’d been on an epic adventure. Somehow, he’s always overcoming battles with birds for bagel scraps and facing down the fearsome hulk of the trash compactor just to grab a “truly historical piece” from being squashed flat. He thought himself to be a hero of the unwanted, a provider of educational and stylish art to those less fortunate than himself. (Okay, he was a bit of a windbag but he was a very giving sort we all loved him.)
Just last week, he came to me, tail twitching in excitement as he told me to close my eyes. Wondering if I was going to get another dusty deer antler or shriveled bit of shrunken head, I scrunched my eyes closed. There was a ‘thunk’ and ‘swish’ of something heavy being set down and uncovered. With a voice more excited than a squirrel his age should have, he eagerly bade me to look.
It was a board with the a squirrel skeleton laid out in their full glory. From the tip of the tail to the end bones of the neck, the piece that he brought for my dray was both macabre and though provoking. But, the best part, the part that made me truly appreciate the greatness of my fourth cousin’s uncle’s brother even more, was the head.
He had taken the time to paint my face in place of the skull.
It was weird. It was goofy. It would probably scare my visitors.
It was perfect!

creepyperfect.LOL! Thanks! I think it would look great hanging in my cubicle. 😉
From the first statement of my first cousin's uncle brother something tell me is going to be a comedy.
Between, pls don't scare your visitor with that thing, it's not proper.
I like starting the day with a laugh! Thanks for stopping by Botefarm! (No, it's not proper but, it's LOTS of fun!) 😁
Such a cute story!

There's a little Tim Burton amongst the mad squirrels that run your brain, @brisby!
(Yes, like Kronk from Emperor's New Groove)
Reading your posts is always a metaphysical experience, I never know what to expect. You're pure fantasy!
Grazie Marco! That's one of the nicer ways that anyone has described my mind! 😁 (Kronk was a trip! His class at the end of the movie where he was teaching the kids how to talk to squirrels.."You owe me a new acorn". LOL!)
How have you been? I have to admit, I'm missing your selfies!
This was so sweet, @brisby! I loved this, although it did take me a second to realize we're not talking people here :D
