TOKEN (5-minute Freewrite)

If you'll permit me, I am going to challenge myself to stay in the same story for all the 5-minute Freewrite Prompts for the month of February! Let's see how this turns out...

Ilana slid the token across the rough, reclaimed wood tabletop. She loved this little coffee shop. Breck, her boyfriend of three months, grinned at what he suspected was a playful game.

"What's this," he asked. A goddess arched her back on one side of the small gold coin. On the other side, a lone palm tree stood atop the arc of a dune.

"That came in the mail today. Can you guess what it does," she asked. Ilana was not above making Breck squirm before giving him what he wanted. Although, that wasn't the whole truth. She hadn't given him all that he wanted, even once, over the last three months. And she had no plans to in the near future.

"Uhhh. You got me babe," he said. Breck lifted his coffee, sipped the hot, caramel flavored liquid as he leaned back against the weathered, wrought iron chair.
