GRASS (5-minute Freewrite)

THANK YOU for sticking with me for a full month dedicated to one story! At the start of February, I challenged myself to stay in the same story for all the 5-minute Freewrite Prompts that month. How do you think it turned out?

Felix bounded over to Ilana who was standing knee deep in the crystal clear water. Small fish darted around her ankles and shot off in various directions as he broke the glass like surface.

"There, it's done," he said. The smile on his face was broad. The look in his eyes was excitement. She kissed him full on the lips, and pulled him into a tight embrace.

Felix had resigned his position with the cruise line at their first port of call. They both disembarked the ship and fled into the small island with just one bag each.

"Should we explore the island a little," Ilana asked. And they had. All day and into that first night. Late in the evening, the couple found a vacant room at one of the resorts and nestled down together under the sheets.

The next morning they took a walk along the beach at sunrise.

"I am ready if you are," she told Felix. He nodded.

They turned to face the jungle path which led from the white sand beach to the resort. Together, hand in hand, they stepped out of the water. Grains of sand wrapped their feet with warmth. Ilana squeezed Felix's right hand in both of hers, and laid her head on his shoulder.

The new couple continued along the grass carpeted path that led into the shadow filled jungle. Somewhere on the other side of the island was a cupola with a Captain waiting to marry them.
