FREEDOM (5-minute Freewrite)

The clock on the wall edged closer to the top of the hour. He fiddled with his pen. He piled three stacks of paper into one jumbled pile. He lifted his coffee mug to take a sip and found the sweetened black elixir had chilled. He spit the mouthful of bitter ichor back into the mug.

That was a good enough excuse, he thought. He pushed the rolling chair away from his desk. He then stood and walked to the kitchen. The mug rotated until the contents were emptied and escaped down the drain. He put the empty mug with other dirty items in the dishwasher. He filled the soap tray, closed the mechanism, and started a fresh wash cycle.

He glanced at the green glowing numbers on the face of the microwave. Four fifty five. Soon enough?

Why not!

It was Friday after all.
