"Please describe your shoes, for the jury," the lawyer said.

What was I to tell them? That they were the same scuffed sole, worn black leather, dress shoes found at the crime scene?

"Air Jordans." The mic blared as my voice wrapped around the courtroom, and reentered the mesh covering.

"Are you certain, sir?" His eyes peered over rimless spectacles.

"Yes."

"No further questions, Your Honor."

"Court adjourned for a short recess. Mr. Timmons, would you visit my chambers before departing?" The Judge stepped through a small door at the back of the courtroom.

I moved through the throng of people, and entered the quiet office.

"Well..." I hesitated.

"I think the Prosecution will buy it." He grinned at me with all the slyness of a fox who just escaped the henhouse.
